Tim, Alain and Dimi founded Astovidatu in 2005 while they were members in My Lament (doom metal), after a year of writing music Dimi and Alain left the band to form Metamitron, which later changed his name to Scartaris.
But Tim wanted to continue Astovidatu, so he placed some ads on the net. Soon Gino, guitar player of Hardknox (hard/metalcore) was interested. He wanted to play bombastic metal.
After a few month's Astovidatu found Pat, ex- drummer of Antenora. He was a power/thrash metal drummer but soon he knew that melodic black metal was more his style.
Later they found Ivo, he was a bass player who wanted to join Astovidatu just because he loved their music and he wanted to be a part of it. They also found Jeroen, keyboard player of Encryption.
After quite a long search Astovidatu found Guy from Angeli Di Pietra who wanted to handle the vocals.
Many line-up problems later the future of Astovidatu is uncertain, we will finish our demo and see how the response will be, we will either continue as a live band or as a project that only focuses on the writing and recording aspect
Astovidatu is not a satanic or political group, just a collection of dark creative souls.
