The Blues Brothers (Hertfordshire TRIBUTE)

Everybody Needs Somebody to Love

About Me

The Blues Brothers of Hertfordshire was formed in about November 2004, mainly for a bit of a laugh and to perform "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" at the school's annual music competition. There were more serious reasons behind the formation of this master blues band though.
In November 2003, a very close friend of mine, and a lot of the other band members, tragically died. I thought long and hard about a way in which we could remember him by, and as he was a very keen and talented musician, it seemed appropriate to do something musical. I have no idea why we decided to do a Blues Brothers act. It was just good, fun music that everyone could appreciate.
Come the music competition in March, we still hadn't had a full band rehearsal but pulled off a miraculous performance and won the competition with full marks. This gave us the confidence to put on a concert at the school in the summer, and after some changes in the band, we went ahead with the preparations. We sold out for the gig, and once again played a magnificent set.
Since then we have gone from strength to strength, selling out Woodside Hall in Hitchin, another Boys School gig, plus some other concerts around Hertfordshire.
As the band was set up to commemorate Matt Smith, we thought it only appropriate to give most of our profits to the British Heart Foundation (Click here to make a donation!) . So far we have donated over £3000, and are keen to donate more, so if you need a band for a party or have a slot at a festival or concert open, let us know, wed be happy to play. P.S. We would like to make it clear that the songs on offer at the top there are the original recordings and not our covers. A member of MySpace was polite enough to point that out. You can buy the official recordings by clicking here .
