The Agony and the Ecstacy.After I got over the disappointment that it wasn't erotica, turned out to be the most interesting book I have ever read.Michelangelo is best known for his frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. He had a huge body of art in many mediums before he did that ceiling at the AGE OF 70. Fresco is the art of staining freshly laid plaster before it dries. Most are small, if you let it dry and try to add plaster to the edge later... the resulting seam will allow water and mold in to ruin the entire project. He would paint for 3-4 solid days when starting a new panel.His first love was sculpture. He painted in oils, wrote poetry, saved a city from bombardment with his engineering skills, designed and constructed churches in Rome, cast figures in bronze...
