Raw Canvas is an initiative run at Tate Modern by young adults
for young adults, giving everyone the opportunity to reach their
own conclusions about art. We offer a full year's programme of
art-related activities for anyone between the ages of 15 – 23.
Raw Canvas offers talks, discussions, visits, parties, events & gigs, all planned and run by
15-23 yr olds, for 15-23 yr olds, and all without the exchange of money!
That's for us, by us - just the way it should be!
Erm, sounds a bit like an 'art club'...
Well, we prefer to call ourselves Raw Canvas. Never mind what your teacher, the art critics, the books and the newspapers say. We want to know what you really think and if you've really taken the time to consider, that maybe... just possibly... there could be a different perspective.
News:We have just launched Tate Tracks, an experimental collaboration in which music artists will be composing a new track in response to inspiration in the form of an artwork on show at Tate Modern.
Roll Deep's track is now on display in front of their chosen artwork, Anish Kapoor's Ishi's Light (on level 3). Come down and check it out this month - you definitely need to experience both works - Roll Deep's and Kapoor's!
Tate Tracks started with The Chemical Brothers whose track you can listen to on Level 5 of Tate Modern (in the Cubism, Futurism and Vorticism room) in front of the artwork itself (Jacob Epstein's sculpture Torso in Metal from ..The Rock Drill' ) and now you can listen to it online.http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/eventseducation/rawcanv
