Formed by Liam and Tracey-Lynne Cody in 2004 as a rock based outfit, nature took its course and in 2007 the now fully electronic duo mashes up fresh breakbeats with drum 'n bass and electronica, while still drawing on those rock roots to help keep it heavy.
At a Haluciagea show you can expect swinging beats, big vocal melodies, expansive dubby delays along with unique visuals, created by filmmakers and animators.
In April 2009 Haluciagea released their debut album, 'Liminoid’, which included a DVD of work from local film-makers.
All members bring to Haluciagea an extensive background in music and the performing arts. Liam is ex-Wellington Jazz Conservatorioum and Tracey-Lynne works in tertiary-level performing arts education.
Haluciagea's name is derived from Clive Barker’s ‘Halluciagenia’, beings of light who overcome evil by their numbers...
2007 and 2008 have seen Haluciagea bring their unique collection of drum 'n bass beats fused with piercing rock melodies to eclectic audiences throughout Aotearoa in support of The Upbeats, Double Negative, The Black Seeds, Supergroove, Nanotek, Hollie Smith, Minuit, The Short Circuit Tour, Odessa and Philter.
With a brand new album receiving positive reviews, 2009 will prove to be a defining year for Haluciagea.
