Rebel Renegade was started in november of 2004. Matt (Guitar/ Lead Vocals) and Ken (Drums-precussion/Back Up Vocals) started Rebel Renegade with the hopes of one day playing live gigs. This was not the first time the two started a band project... however... their former band, the Neato Squirrles, never worked out on acount of Ken and Matt's lack of experience and devotion. For this reason, the band broke up and both Ken and Matt started projects with other people, Matt leaving to start a project with a couple friends calling themselves Yout Kompht and Ken, after moving back to Illinois from California where he had lived for a few months, started a band with his friend calling themselves Rogeatak.Matt became unhappy with his project and so he attempted to join Ken with his. This did not work out, however, due to Matt's and the guitarist from Rogeatak's opisite guitar influences. Deciding to help out Matt, Ken decided to start what at that time was going to be a side project with Matt, Rebel Renegade. Shortly there after, Rogeatak was no more, making Rebel Renegade Ken's only project. After their prior band experiences, Ken and Matt made it a priority to stay devoted and go out, make original songs, and play gigs. Only a few months after the forming of Rebel Renegade, Ken and Matt's devotion has paid off. The band played two small gigs that went rather well. It was a couple weeks after their last gig as a two peice that Rebel Renegade's Ken and Matt found themselves at a bar, Doc Ryans in Forest Park, Illinois. There they discovered that a mutral friend through one of Ken's better friends, John, played bass and had been for nearly a year at the time, april 2005. Ken and matt jumped at the chance for a bassist, something they had been trying to find since their first band project together about 4 years ago. Before long Chris Spevak learned on bass nearly every original song by Rebel Renegade as well as helping in the creation of a few new originals along the way.On June 25th, 2007, Chris Spevak was retired from Rebel Renegade, leaving for personal reasons. However, it took only a couple days (after posting an ad in the Myspace Classifieds) that we discovered a Bassist named John Ballje. It wasn't long before John became a member of Rebel Renegade and, with Matt back on lead vocals, Rebel Renegade has once more become a full three members of brutal drumming and deadly guitar rifts!
