I am here for Friends

About Me

Who am I?I am who I am so please don't try to change me or change for me.

I am of Italian, Swedish, and German descent. I have lived around the country and around the world but I am a Boston girl at heart. I love to learn and experience other cultures and ways of living and loving.

I love to have fun and I want to make people smile. I love to laugh and I love to tease people. However, I am also an extremely hard worker and someone who is very dedicated to every cause I undertake. Whether it be marriage, motherhood, friendship, teaching, coaching, or something as simply as scrapbooking I tend to put in 110% every day and won't settle for less effort from anyone else.
I am outspoken and I am honest. I will not hide who I am or who you are. I dislike confrontations but I will not let anyone walk over me or take advantage of me.
I am a Boston girl in my heart, though I live in the middle of the desert now. I go home every summer for a week here and a week there, but someday I want to own a home and "summer" in Cohasset again. I desperately want my daughter to know and love Massachusetts as much as I do. And, yes, the accent comes back when I visit, and when I am pissed off or drinking.
You Are 72% Massachusetts
You're pretty Massachusetts, but you're starting to slip. Go eat a bulky roll and flip off a New Yorker. How Massachusetts Are You?
uh oh... I'm slipping. But still, not bad for being 9 1/2 years removed.
I am a registered Democrat and I proudly worked for Al Gore and Governor Janet Napolitano. However, I am also a closet Republican. I support Women's Rights through and through, but I do not support anyone living off of anyone else. Get off your ass and make it happen for yourself. I do not support the war in Iraq because we have no business telling any other country how to run a government when we can't even make our own government work. I await the 2008 elections and I welcome the change.
I am a wife.
I am happily married to a wonderful man. He is honest, daring, smart, hardworking, and sensitive. Yes, he's sensitive. He grew up with 3 sisters. He will not hit a woman. He does not steal or use drugs. He adores me and I adore him right back. He will do anything to make me happy. Now that is a man.
I am a mother.
I adore my daughter and I want nothing but the best for her. I once penned in my journal that I don't have specific dreams or goals for Isabella. I only wish that she is better than I am and that she makes more of herself than I made of myself. What does it take to be a mother? You must learn to walk around with your every emotion and every bit of your heart exposed. You must be completely selfless.
I am a friend.
If you are in my life it's because I value who you are. Don't change. I do not hoard people in my life because I need friends to ascertain my own importance. I only have room for people I truly love. You know who you are.

I am a teacher.
Teaching is a passion. It has to be or else no one would survive in this profession. I love my job even with the pathetic paychecks. I know students don't always like me, but that just means I am doing my job well. I pretty much sacrifice something (or someone) of my own everyday to help my students. Whether it is reading a book that I want to read, time with my daughter, or being pied in the face, I am happy to do it (usually) if it means my students and athletes will be successful.
I am a runner.
I enjoy running, but it is all too often the first part of my life to fall apart when the going gets tough. I like the challenge of increasing my strength and staying fit. I also love the possibility of being able to do good and exercise. I started running benefit runs in 2006 and have run the Jim Click 5K twice. My next biggest goal is to be able to make it through the run again, only 4 months postpartum.
I am a coach.
I wanted to teach because I wanted to coach. I have a passion for soccer but moreso, I am committed to providing a safety net for the potential of our young women. It is proven that when young women belong to a team their self esteem increases and they are less likely to fall victim to teengage pregnancy and other peer temptations. I survived high school because of my own athletic involvement and I want to return the favor! I love ya girls!
p
I am a Red Sox fan.
I happened this year. I became one of those psycho fans. My brother and I flew to Colorado for Game 3 of the World Series. It was a once (or maybe twice) in a lifetime experience and I won't make excuses for my silly behavior! Who does not want to be a part of something so big and exciting.

Ticket to game:$250
2 nights hotel $336
Airfare from Tucson to Denver $550
Screaming for Varitek and his boys with a red wig on and being on National TV looking like another one of those Sox idiots: Priceless!
Next time I want to see it happen at Fenway!
Just imagine... I was this close to Tek and I was able to remain calm and composed, and despite some heavy wagers, decided against running onto the field to "say hello".

My Interests

My baby girl.... soccer, teaching, reading, photography, writing, scrapbooking, traveling, music...

I LOVE the Red Sox and anything Boston. We recently had the grand pleasure of chillin' on centerfield at Fenway. Holy SHIT! Yeah, we walked the warning track and then played catch in the outfield. It was a Father's Day event, but what the Hell. Father's couldn't be father's without a little help from the mothers!

I'd like to meet:

people from my past... people like me....

I'd Like to meet Jason Varitek because he does good things for good people... and he does mean shit to people who piss him off. Plus, he has a great ass.

People I don't like and would prefer to not meet: Liars, nay-sayers, and those people who will say or do anything to make themselves look/feel better. People who survive by being ignorant.

Music:

I'm pretty much jealous of anyone with any musical talent and therefor, I can tolerate most any type of music. Rap and Heavy Metal would be more like a torture device, but I can somewhat see the appeal for their respective followers. I prefer Classic Rock, and the depressing angst-filled music by Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and the Cranberries that defined my own high school years. In my classroom you will typically find me listening to Classical music or and more chill music like DMB, Rusted Root, Big Head Todd, BNL, and Counting Crows and Dada. Every now and then, I try to branch outr and find someone new and interesting to add to my music collections. I recently stumbled upon Colbie Caillat - very chill.

Movies:

I love older movies like Officer and a Gentleman, Revenge of the Nerds, and my all time favorite is Wizard of Oz.

Television:

I don't watch television. I used to watch Gilmore Girls, but that was cancelled. Imagine that. A wholesome, funny television show being cancelled. You know, what really irks me is that of all the wonderful tidbits we could learn about people, MySpace opts to list "television" as one of the most important aspects about someone. That tells you something about our society. Turn off your TVs people and go spend time with your family. I'll get off my soapbox now.

Books:

As the school year is slowly picking up speed, my reading will be mostly comprised of essays and research papers, and little notes tucked into assignments begging for me to "lighten up" and to "please give so-and-so an A". However, in my own time I love to read. I have a long list of what I want to read. But currently, I am hooked on Jodi Picoult for leisure. I am currently reading Wicked, the novel that the new Broadway Play is based on. The play is phenomenal and I presume the novel will be even better, as they always are! I hope to finish Wicked sometime this decade. These are all reads for school. These are some of my all-time favorite reads. I highly recommend them to anyone!

Heroes:

Bourke Corcoran
Someone who was kind to every person, no matter what anyone else said. I choose to live my life in memory of Bourke. If I can be half the person Bourke was, I will be a wonderful role model for my daughter.

Beth Brakke

A genuinely kind, sweet, admirable young woman, Beth's spirit and smile will live on to remind me how to treat other people. Thank you, Beth, for sharing with us your love, kindness and beauty.

Nothing Better

Can you buy summer in a tin can or sell fun by the cone? Can you pay a price for the summer moments that you never want to end? Summer, to me, is always characterized by sand in the teeniest crevices ...
