Songstress and songwriter, A’mor Shanee’, is becoming well known for her unique tone and swagger- with an R&B twist. Born in 1984, to a single mom and aspiring dancer, Yvette Leak and navy father, George Finley, A’mor Shanee’ quickly grew a love for music and hip hop.
As an only child, A’mor started singing at a very young age, performing only for an audience of lined up stuffed animals. This eccentric love for music & writing developed into an evident passion when A’mor Shanee’ would save up her small allowance to buy books and collect the latest issues of Word Up & entertainment magazines every chance she got. Being influenced by her mom’s favorite artist: Whitney Houston, and Anita Baker; and her own all-time idol, Beyonce’ Knowles, A’mor Shanee’ created a sultry diva-style soulful hip-hop artist within herself.
Through the years, A’mor Shanee’ learned steadfast as she battled to find balance in young life filled with turbulent times. Music was her sanctity as she tried to fill voids where she lacked friends, family and self esteem. Self-made middle school and high school girl music groups helped her as she played the role of both lead singer & songwriter. As her high school group became more serious, A’mor Shanee’ learned the reality and griminess of the music industry. Juggling schoolwork, studio sessions till
2am on school nights, photo shoots, and dance rehearsals, A’mor Shane’ learned the grind required to even approach such an industry. She kept a courageous spirit even after being let down by her manager/ producer, separating from her group and being sold big dreams that ended up being nothing. A’mor Shanee’ learns that u cannot trust everybody, and that you have to hold yourself up by believing in yourself & trusting in God.
So back to the lab she went, doing shows at many Detroit bars and struggling from job to job. After growing a stronger relationship with God while experiencing personal and relationship battles, A’mor Shanee’ hit rock bottom again. She was betrayed once again by a producer, but she still kept her head up.
A’mor Shanee’, now more focused and prayerful than ever, is being sent true blessing one after another. This is definitely her year…her song; “I Bet†is the leading song of upcoming film, “Why Do Men Cheat?†produced by Detroit’s own, Delano Glass & co-produced by Kym Whitley (Deliver Us from Eva), releasing worldwide July 2008.
