Why Did It Rain?
by Ray Burg (ReceivingRed)
Though the cold rain falls all around us,
we have to do what we're called to do.
Though sometimes it's a hard thing,
God will see us through.
And when this life is over,
this life a shadowy past,
What we have done for Jesus,
is the thing that's gonna last
Why did it rain, this was not my plan,
i know Your ways are higher
than any mortal man
i do not have the answers
but i know one thing is true
it’s really not about us
it’s really about You
You’ve made many miracles happen
in my life from day to day
things i take for granted
in my life display
and when i’m not too busy
making all my plans
in my quiet moments
i can see Your Hands
Why did it rain, this was not my plan,
i know Your ways are higher
than any mortal man
i do not have the answers
but i know one thing is true
it’s really not about us
it’s really about You
Father, now i stop and ask You
let me do Your will
guide my mortal body
until it lays there still
You’re my deepest longing
You revealed Yourself to me
Your Spirit gives me comfort
Your Son has set me free
Don’t let me get distracted
i want to be within Your plan
though might not understand it
i need Your guiding Hand
You have me here on earth
there’s a reason this i know
please guide my hand
to the seeds of which i am to sow
Why did it rain, this was not my plan,
i know Your ways are higher
than any mortal man
i do not have the answers
but i know one thing is true
it’s really not about us
it’s really about You
I play guitar, harp (harmonica), and some keyboards. Love the Lord, Love the Blues. Been singin quite a while, never recorded professionally, but I got the basement tapes, though some are old and hissy, I hope you like em'.
I write songs (not all blues). Any music recorded on here was me in the basement, that's it, You can't blames anybody but me!I Love Jesus, He's my savior. He can be yours too!
Influences: Larry Norman, Grew up listnin to him, He's one of my favorites, and of course Randy Stonehill ....... Glenn Kaiser, Darrel Mansfield, Larry Howard, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and definately one of my favorites, Rev Dan Smith. I like BB King too, though he should do more gospel.
My favorite movie of course is the original Blues Brothers movie. ;)
Sounds Like: Me

Hey I really dig Blues Folk Art, only wish I could afford some (Another thing to sing the blues about)! My all time favorite Blues Folk Artist is Dan Dalton.
Dan Dalton is from Portland, Oregon.
He is active in the Portland Blues Community and enjoys creating his junk blues art while groovin' to Blues and Gospel music.
Dan has no formal art training and feels the Lord has blessed him with the great gift of wasting paint. He enjoys using old wood and junk provided by family, friends and items acquired at garage sales, flea markets or
found on the side of the road.
His art is found on old cigar boxes, electric and acoustic guitars, gas cans, license plates and anything else that looks good with a blues saying or image on it. Dan puts a Bible verse on the back of each art piece so if you get tired of the art you can flip it over and hang the verse for your viewing pleasure. One man's junk is another man's treasure ....or art!
Click Dan's "Little Walter" below to meet the man.
Another Folk Artist who's art I really enjoy is Reverand Howard Finster. He went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2001, but his art and his message still goes forth to future generations! His art can be seen at a garden he created called Paradise Garden in Summerville, GA.
There was a Newsboys video called "Simple Man" that was filmed on location with an interview of Reverand Howard that can be seen here
Here's a slide show of some of Howard's work
His official web site with his bio and information on his art can be found by clicking Howard's Self Portrait Below
Another Christian Artist, who's art needs to be seen in person to fully grasp the beauty in it, is that of clay sculptor Kay Luetke. She also does paintings, and drawings, but her clay works are her shining glory! She makes these great clay benches with colors and details that are hard to explain in words, you feel like part of the art just sitting on it!
She has these creative clay plants and objects in her garden that are whimsical, and bring a brightness and surreal feel to her yard.
Then her ocean themes, huge clay sculptures of sea turtles, fish, and underwater marvels, full of detail and color! She also has beautiful clay tiles, also rich in color, and full of marvels, pressings of various plants and objects. Her myspace sight is a click away, just click the clay ocean scene below. Her site is still in the beginning stages, more of her clay art will be pictured in the future! ENJOY!
Here is a song I wrote a while back, I hope and pray it will help those who need to hear it...................
