Police blotter: Beating death under investigation By DIANE REED Anaheim Hills News Anaheim Police are investigating the beating death of Pedro Torres, 18, in Anaheim Hills. Torres and a companion, 22, (whose name is being withheld by police to ensure his safety), were surprised by unknown assailants, in two foreign cars, at about 11 p.m. April 28 on the 4200 block of Riverdale Ave. Torres later succumbed to massive head injuries at Kaiser Hospital. The other man was also beaten about the head, but was treated and released from Placentia-Yorba Linda Hospital. No weapon was recovered at the scene. "Detectives say that it is possible the two young men were walking down the street when attacked and beaten." Sgt. Rick Martinez said. "There are no known suspects and no known provocation for the attacks." Although there has been some gang activity in the Riverdale area in recent weeks, Martinez said, "We don't believe the victims had gang affiliations." Martinez said that the assailants left the scene in the foreign cars, which were described as being of neutral color and each having a broken rear windshield.
