Now based in beautiful Wakefield, Quebec, Mulit-Bassist, Producer & Band Leader Marc Decho is one of the regions most diverse and in demand bassists, although 99% self taught he has done a few classes with Dr. BARRY HARRIS, DAVE LIEBMAN, CECIL BRIDGEWATER, MARK DRESSER, CHRIS TARRY, MATT PENMAN (SF Jazz Collective, Joshua Redman, John Scofield) REINALDO CRESPO (Ska Cubano, Rey Crespo Y Su Saoco Son De Cuba) ARNALDO JIMENEZ (Pedrito Calvo, La Cosmopolita, Issac Delgado, Orquesta Reve), and the great FELICIANO ARANGO (NG La Banda, Los Hermanos Arango). Mainly Marc keeps his ears and mind open to anything and everything.
His main projects at the moment are working with famed Canadian/Cuban diva (and cousin of the legendary queen of salsa Celia Cruz) CARIDAD CRUZ, CUBANO SON Directed by "El Maestro" FELIPE CONTRERAS; latin-jazz group CONJUNTO RUMBAVANT; master flamenco guitarist JAMES COHEN; Funk-Fusion-Experimental Jazz band THE NU-POSITION, Montreal Based Brazilian singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist ROMMEL RIBEIRO; brazilian group LA FLORQUESTRA; Cuban Quartet LA BANDA TUYA; THE LATIN SOUND MACHINE, the RACHELLE BEHRENS QUARTET (funk, R&B, rock, latin) and various other freelance work in Jazz/Funk/Fusion/World.Marc is also currently writing & producing a new solo album which will be released in Winter/Spring 2010.Along with performing and production, Marc was the DJ and host of "DUB'EAT GOES ON" on CHUO 89.1FM for several years, where he was able to share his love of Afro-Beat, Funky Hi-Life, Boogaloo, Dub & Rare Grooves with the rest of the globe.Other performance/recording credits include:NYC based Cuban pianist FLOR URRUTIA, Slam Poet Champion/Author ONI THE HAITIAN SENSATION, SERVANTES, CORAZON SALSERO; TRIO INFLUENCIADO, ROOTS RADICS Y RUMBA; JASON SCOTT TRIO; CHARANGA SWING; PULSE MONDIALE (Rene Gely); BANDA KLAVE; FANDANGOS; EL GRUPO SON TUMBAO; and many others.For bookings or to hire Marc, please use the myspace contact feature.
