Barefooted and twisted,
the rocks became as flexible
as the colors of a jelly warm.With the ear to the pavement
and with the screams that came
from the core of the earth,
the birds shouted louder and louder
as the morning came upon us.Fire ants crawling in my sleep, and my love,
the sweat multiplied in buckets and gallons
of goodbyes.No beers to be chilled.
No cigarettes to ash.
Only with the feeling of success,
and the successful felling of letting go.With all the attachments
that branched off my chest and eyes
while they were closed,
I smiled with silence.
And looked for that love
which I had found ,
and found to be gone,
mad, beautiful, and strange.
