What has been happening to that quasar during the past 10 billion years is anyones guess. Perhaps it cooled and a speck of it condensed into a solar system with an earth musch like ours, where humanlike beings are looking at us the way we were 10 billion years ago. Of course, asking what happened during to connote a passage of time, but in this case it obviously refers to a passage of space. An event that happened 10 billion years ago on the quasar an an event that happens on earth today are strangely simultaneous.
