I AM SO MISSIN' THE MAIN ST. ELECTRICAL PARADE RIGHT NOW. SORRY, BUT MY VHS WENT MISSING YEARS AGO AND I'M ALL ABOUT SPINNING SNAILS AND TURTLES RIGHT NOW:..and muppets doing duets with debbie harry:this might be all a bit too melodramatic for some, but i own two of these books for several reasons and then this caught my eye:

My Interests

giggling. listening. dancing. sound & color. navy blue. rust. vintage eggshell. things that light up. things that glow. i am currently obsessed with lighting fixtures (being drawn to them, observing them, buying them). my next quest is to construct them. PAINTING. illustration. POSTCARDS!!!! and collecting everything else as well. trying to make sense of the inexplicable. snapping mundane-o-graphs. making lists. making lists of my lists. using polysyllabic vernacular with copious skill and deft aplomb while simultaneously wagering verbosity. reading the dictionary for fun. being obsessive-compulsive about grammar. MUSIC and film. artists that are married. socks. especially knee-socks. the AIRPLANES. people-watching. quiet stillnesses that can only take place during twilight and dusk (the golden hours). drag queens. movies about drag queens. i enjoy minute details. vignettes. short stories. anything compartmentalized. containers - anything that could hold something else (ie: boxes, tins, POCKETS, etc.) train cases & sewing boxes, musty old cardboard boxes that disintegrate in your hands (same goes for old books). CHILDREN'S LITERATURE. any other literature. psychology. mental illness. ADD. Autism. social sciences. the myspace obsession. languages, linguistics. dialects. people with accents. cultural studies. cultural history. CALIFORNIA history. mexican-american history. poorly spray-painted ceramics. strawberry rhubarb. i would very much like to learn to play the piano. someday, i will. until then...I TURN INTO A PUDDLE OF MUSH WHEN ANYONE WILL PLAY THE PIANO FOR ME. filling my head with trivia, any kind. being clean. staying warm. the bending of light thru water or glass. furniture design. when form meets function. art deco design. any design between the 1920's thru the 1970's. modern home design. mary jane shoes. BLONDIE. finding an engine for my camaro. all other muscle cars. large, fluffy bath towels. chocolate chip cookies. oh, and listening to a little bit of everyone's... story.

I'd like to meet:

duh. genuine people. real, live genuine people.
Your Daddy Is Pedro Martinez
What You Call Him: Pa

Why You Love Him: He takes you to Disneyland Who's Your Daddy?

Music:

i like music. yes i do. i like all of it. except barry manilow. he sucks. oh, and johnny mathis, too. but anything with rhodes piano, steel or slide guitar in it and you've got me in your pocket. i like listening to people play the piano very much, also (see interests).i wish this ride was for real. don't forget your dramamine!!

Movies:

sure, The Wizard of Oz. I'm overwhelmed with the task of listing all the good films i have recently seen or have not seen, so i'll just say that my favorites are pretty much the same as any other intelligent/inquisitive being who has sound appreciation of fine film. (list is pending)

Television:

how can i have a favorite when there really isn't anything worth watching? got no cable - coleman said it best - i have the kind of tv where you can push play.

Quiz created with MemeGen !i will admit i do miss SNL...

Books:

i enjoy collected short stories very much, but also enjoy the full-length format. if you lose me in a bookstore (which happens very easily), look for me in these sections, in this order: children's books, art, musical commentary, literature, psychology, education, social sciences, environmental studies, gender studies, then check history. I like that guy STEINBECK (very much so). PHAIDON Press - Boring Postcards, U.S. (the greatest postcards i've ever seen) The Great Gatsby is pretty..... heh.. great. giggle. read Hop-Frog (Poe) before you fall asleep tonight. 3rd grade book report was The Martian Chronicles ~ RAY BRADBURY is my real dad (but, shh..... don't tell Technodad, he doesn't know) ... ...every child must own a copy of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE -its a law, i think (see collin's leg for details). anything maurice sendak. beatrix potter. as well as several other children's authors listed below. and SUZUKI BEANE is cooler than your grandkids will ever be. CURRENTLY READING: about 12 different books or so, but not anywhere near finishing any of them (due to my ADD, i think). in the midst of Catcher in The Rye. still concentrating the most on one called ELEVATOR MUSIC: A SURREAL HISTORY OF MUZAK, EASY-LISTENING, AND OTHER MOODSONG. and thoroughly enjoying it. just borrowed and started reading DAYBOOK: Journey of an Artist by Anne Truit (thnx Krystal!):) i like books.

Heroes:

"Heroes"? That's a David Bowie song. and Blondie covered that song once. Deborah Harry is the singer in Blondie. Deborah Harry is my Here-oh.Oh wait, is this where i NAME-DROP?? i dunno how to create another category box-thingey on here, so i'll just start one here --my INFLUENCES are, in no particular order: dorothea jeanette boehlert. john steinbeck. dorothy parker. robert frost. krystal boehlert. georgia o'keefe. alfred steiglitz. leonard cohen. micheal coleman. claudette colbert. william eggleston. anne of green gables. beverly cleary. judy blume. frank lloyd wright. mike davis. edgar degas. mercer meyer. herself-the-elf. toulouse-letrec. the zigfeild follies. pinnocchio. judy garland. charlie brown. paul simon. dorothy gale. alphonse mucha. nancy drew. eero saarinen. earl quinlivan. jim jarmusch. donald boehlert. wonder woman. roy orbison. jessica lange. sam cooke. brian froud. maurice sendak. hans christensen andersen. suzuki beane. robert boehlert. small wild and wide-eyed children. people with accents. l.m. montgomery. lois lenski. lois lowry. lois sachar. denise boehlert. beatrix potter. leo lionni. margaret wise brown. leonard s. marcus. shel silverstein. h.a. rey. ya know.. ...the greats... ..more to come.
