DAPHT ONE is a specialist Dubstep host MC having received biggups from the likes of Loefah, Benga, N-Type, Mala, Pinch and Caspa. Dapht is the resident host at Dubstep Alliance nights and also a regular guest MC with Christchurch's Subtle Soundsystem.
Having an interest in Garage sounds since 2000 when he first started freestyling in his bedroom, Dapht continued with his quest to rock the mic to a dancefloor and this led him to pursue Drum and Bass MCing for a number of years. First checking online mixes from TPI, Dapht was an early convert to the Dubstep sound introducing others by spinning tunes at the tail end of his Urban Camouflage Drum and Bass nights and eventually taking over DJing strictly Dubstep on the Bassology radio show circa 2005. Dapht was instrumental in bringing Dubstep to Auckland launching the multigenre night Mind The Basstrap in January 2007 and the Dubstep Alliance clubnight in October 2007 with headline act DJ Pinch. The Dubstep Alliance fortnightly has gone from strength to strength featuring guests from around NZ and Oz, weekend shows are also set to feature top Dubstep acts from the UK and around the world.
