Robby Nelms

About Me I am a solo composer and keyboardist. My styles are easylistening, new age, relaxation, and ambient jazz. I record using Cakewalk Sonar and Pro Tools LE 6.9.2, using both PC and Mac. I am from and currently reside in Los Angeles CA. I am also an intern for film composers Gary Chase and Natan Wang. I've been playing music and composing since I was young, but didn't get serious till I went to college. My first musician experience was when I was about 4 years old. I had just seen Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I had really enjoyed the scene at the end with all the music. The next day I went to my grandmothers piano and tried to mimic what I heard. I play mainly by ear, and I can also sight read (though I really need to practice my reading more often.....) I have an AA degree in music and am now working on getting my BM in composition. My goal is to create new and intersting music as well as music that is relaxing and thereputic.Currently I am working on two CDs. One CD is Robby Nelms--Ambient Jazz. The pice WaterWay is from that CD. The CD currently has 10 pieces. WaterWay is the piece that defines "Ambient Jazz." It was with this piece that I decided to go for an "Ambient" but "jazzy" feel. It's cool, refereshing and relaxing. I have peformed this piece, as well as others from my CD, live using the CD as backing tracks while I play the piano part.If I sound like and interesting person to you, email me.
