About Me

The Flatland Boogie Band has been together for the last couple of years formed by guitarist Taff and vocalist Bernie after playing in various lineups together for past 10 years. Father and son combo Mike and Simon Frackiewicz play drums and bass respectively providing a solid groove to the band's mix of rhythm n' blues laced with a sprinkling of southern soul and a dash of 50's rock and roll all done in the best possible taste.Latest addition to the band is eighth wonder of the world Mad Dog Malcolm ..boards(aka "The Vicar") adding texture and bite to this dynamic meal of a band.

Band Members: There's been a bit of a change around over the last couple of years. First bassist of 3 years John Davies left to form "Be Bop Daddies" who are doing well with a great sound and feel. John was replaced by Simon the eyeman (he of too many strings and implausably stretchy fingers). No sooner had Simon joined the ranks than our longest suffering drummer of nearly ten years, Lewie Headstrong Lewis quit to commit with local bands the Creechers and the Be Bop Daddies. Lew's position was filled by Simon's dad Mike "the Tache". We then took in good friend of the band Paul Smith whose input vocally and on guitar took the band to a new level. Regrettably, Paul had to leave, but we found solice and inspiration in our latest addition to the band in the shape of...(cue fanfare and drum roll ) Mad Malcolm on piano and and a slightly un-nerving howl similar to a cross between Little Richard and Frankie Howard! Former roll call of players : Eric the Viking VERY LOUD Drums Mick Geordie George C Drop Bass (most odd) Shane (who could write a few great country songs from his past experiences) Bass Billy the "voice" Clark. Drums. And still a good friend! Phil (Yes, mum I..ll wear my cardie ) Drums Jamie "the rock god" Anderson, great bassist now fronting a band in France Oh, almost forgot little Barry the drummer who forgot we had gigs ! Must admit current lineup for me and Bernie is the most rewarding , I..m still trying to play slide on stuff and regular tele on everything else , and Bernie is still doing his stuff on vocals, guitar and blows a mean harp. Catch us real soon as this band is really swinging with a great rhythm section (if only Simon could learn how to dance !) ;-)
Influences: Bernie is influenced by Lyle Lovett only not so handsome , Simon is so influenced by Rudolf Nureyev tell by his movements Mick is influenced by Groucho Marx without the cigar ! Malcolm, influenced by Les Dawson meets Liberace without candlesticks ! Taff, the gopher on Caddyshack , man that cat can dance !
Sounds Like: close in feel if not sound to " the Band". think "moondog matinee"with quite a memphis feel starting to creep in . whatever we hope you like it !
Type of Label: Major
