"Billed as a mish-mash of all that is good in life, this record is literally music to the ears of an official 80's refugee. Alarmingly original and comfortingly familiar at the same time...".

The Australian state of Victoria has fast emerged as a hub of nu musical talent producing international acts such as Cut Copy and Midnight Juggernauts. So it comes as no surprise to hear that yet another act of note has risen up from its green pastures.Outrun an electronic synth trio formed in 2006 by Dan Preston and Josh Armistead have produced a bold album in Future Nation their debut.
Combining raw driving vocals with nuanced synth melodies. Like their contemporaries CutCopy, Outrun bring a melodic feel to electro music making real songs rather than inane beats.
Out of the Ashes and When the light go down are the stand out tracks of the album boldly wearing their influences on their sleeves the voices of Kraftwerk and Joy division resonate throughout.
The group have managed to capture the industrial vacancy that so filled Joy Division's work conjuring images of abandoned warehouses and 80's depression. Its worth to note that the group hail from a small coastal town so where that big city dispondance comes from is all the more intriguing.A bold debut that has really tried to be artistic in its reach. We look forward to more.

Outrun are an electro-synth rock party band from Melbourne Australia. Old friends and founding members Dan Preston and Josh Armistead met in Torquay, coastal Victoria, and in 2001 began experimenting with fast drums and power synth riff's, whilst at the same time listening to Goblin, Trans Am, Giorgio Moroder, & absorbing the sound tracks from B-grade 80's videos. In 2006 they randomly met up whilst on separate road trips through Nevada (U.S), and decided upon their return to Australia they would ignite their analogue sound machines again and see what would happen next. The resulting effect was solid dance floor material and the pair have gone on to play live as regulars in the Melbourne/Sydney club scene as well as appearances at warehouse & industry party's, and live to air radio performances. Bass player Mark O'keeffe has recently joined the group to make it a threesome.
Outrun's debut album 'FUTURENATURE' is released through Inertia on OCT 18th 2008.
