After receiving a guitar for his 7th birthday, Conor Farrell quickly became interested in writing and performing music. First trained in classical guitar, Conor began to learn more contemporary styles of today’s music and at the age of 16, Conor formed what was to go on to be ‘Namin’ a thrash-metal outfit hailing from South Canberra, Australia.Namin burst onto Canberra’s, then thriving band scene in 1995. Playing for 4 years around local and interstate venues and quickly picked up a reputation for intense live performances with a unique heavy sound complimented by soaring vocals. The band eventually broke up and Conor departed for overseas.During his years overseas and after experiencing diverse cultures such as those found in the US, Central America, Europe and other countries, Conor found himself being pulled in different directions musically and began creating his own music with the acoustic guitar that travelled with him.Conor has put together a set of original material that draws on experiences over the last few years on the road and personal battles along the way. The new sound involves dark, melodic vocals, acoustic guitar, cello and violin with drums and piano.On his return to Australia during 2002 - 2003, Conor has played only a handful of rare shows in his hometown of Canberra. Each of these shows was packed to capacity with outstanding reviews and hailed as a “super group†in the local press.Having relocated to Melbourne and with the addition of new members, live shows have received a fantastic response from both audiences and venue owners alike. This has provided new opportunities, such as 2 tracks currently being featured in 2 new, locally made short films.With the completion of a six track, self-titled EP released in 2006 and a new full-length debut album almost written, to be released in 2008, things are looking up for this talented individual...
