About Me

Amassing an impressive list of roles that encompasses film and television, Oscar Torre is set to be “the next big Latin star,” as predicted by Maria Salas (film critic of NBC and Telemundo.) Judging by his latest roles, the prediction is dead-on. Oscar is best known for his work in the CBS/Paramount TV series "CANE," where he played the role of Santo, a likable Cuban balsero/rafter who has an unexpected dark side, alongside Jimmy Smits, Rita Moreno, Polly Walker, Nestor Carbonell and Hector Elizondo. The show was written and created by Cynthia Cidre, who also wrote the screenplay for Mambo Kings. Audiences across the country also got a chance to see him in the theatrically released Lion’s Gate film, "Ladron Que Roba A Ladron," directed by Joe Menendez . Oscar garnered rave reviews for his work as Miguelito, an out-of-work actor recruited to be a con-man. This is not the first time Oscar has worked with the award winning director. In the film "Hunting of Man," Oscar took on the multifaceted role of an ex-convict with a speech impediment alongside Douglas Spain ("Band of Brothers"). Leading up to his role in "Ladron Que Roba A Ladron," Oscar received much attention and critical acclaim playing the lead role in "Libertad," directed by Norton Rodriguez. In “Libertad” he captivated audiences by playing the role of a Cuban artist unjustly sentenced to 15 years in prison who later escaped on a raft. "Libertad" broke records, playing to audiences of more than 3,000 at individual showings – unprecedented attendance numbers in the history of independent film. He also starred in the film festival favorite "Rent-A-Person" as the homeless union organizer and reprised his role in the sequel "Phone Book" with T.J. Thyne (star of the FOX show "Bones"). Oscar has also been seen in the HBO Film "Larceny," directed by Irving Schwartz, with Andy Dick, Tyra Banks and Roselyn Sanchez. His first major on-screen role was as Rocco Navaja, a psychotic hit man in Artisan Entertainment’s "Suicide Blonde," directed by Eduardo Carrillo. Shortly thereafter, Oscar starred as Antonio D’Amico (Gianni Versace’s longtime companion) on the MOW "The Versace Murder" with Franco Nero and Steven Bauer. Oscar later re-teamed with director Eduardo Carrillo and Spanish star Elena Anaya ("Sex and Lucia") in the controversial film "Stage Kiss," in which he depicts an obsessive, lonely, self-proclaimed fan of an Internet show. Oscar has recently been seen in the FOX series "Dollhouse" and in the CBS shows "NCIS" and "COLD CASE." He most recently completed shooting the film "MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS" where he plays an incarcerated ex-drug dealer who is trying to keep his son from making the same mistakes in life he's made. Oscar is consistently sought out by top directors to fill challenging roles on innovative projects. His roles in “Cane” and “Ladron Que Roba A Ladron” have certainly proved to audiences that he is a talent not to be missed. -Written by: Big Media Communications
