Charlie as she is affectionately and professionally known, was born in Cape Town, South Africa. Her natural performance ability became apparent at an early age and she began to pursue a career in the arts. This led to her obtaining a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama from the University of Cape Town where she developed her gifts as a Singer, Actor and Dancer.During her training at the University of Cape Town, Charlie was chosen to represent her country in a creative symposium at the Zermatt Conference Center in Switzerland. Where she performed with the company: Theatre for Africa- a company noted for their demanding multi-disciplined performance base.Upon completing her training Charlie was immediately offered a contract to perform overseas. This was the first post-graduate opportunity the world had been afforded to witness the talent of the beautiful South African performer. It led to a series of requests for her to perform multi-national concerts.
Beginning in Germany, Charlie performed in Spain, Germany, Hong Kong, and Indonesia to name a few.Upon completing a tour of Asian with her band Project F, Charlie was approached to sing lead vocals on a single for Platform Records (which creating a buzz upon its release in South Africa) this led to requests from US based record labels and producers.Returning to Cape Town Charlie won the FNB Vita award for Best Actress, for her demanding role in the musical theater production- Kat and the Kings, directed by world renowned South African directors; David Kramer and Taliep Petersen. The production traveled to various European destinations, also the West End in London and Broadway in New York.Having arrived in the United States Charlie has toured several states with the theatre production A Bird in Flight, playing the Lead role of Rachel. Her versatility as a vocalist has resulted in diverse collaborations with the likes of New York house music producers Dennis Ferrer , Ibadan Records Jerome Sydenham , Los Angeles Jazz / Soul musician and producer Darrell Crooks ,InISounds Shakespeare & Arlito, Ghanain Afro Beat sensation Rocky Duwani and Wayne Brady.Actor, Singer, Dancer and songwriter Charlie is creating a career which is globally diverse yet singularly applicable, much like the spiritually gifted South African artist herself.
