Buck 50 Productions Executive Summary Marvis Johnson - Principle, Executive Producer/Writer/Director Marvis was formally trained in film production at Howard University before continuing his education at Showtime Networks under the tutelage of Jay Larkin and David Dinkins, Jr.
After leaving Showtime Networks, Marvis made the leap into the competitive New York music video scene where he gained the respect of some of the biggest talents in the business. A testament to his talent and perseverance in the industry, he built a strong reputation as an independent director/producer of music videos for various hip hop artists. He produced, directed and created concepts for Loud Records, A&M, DreamWorks, Columbia, Sony, Priority Records, and BMG Records. Through these experiences, he developed his dream of writing, directing, and producing movies for theatrical release. "A Talent For Trouble" will be his feature film debut.
A TALENT FOR TROUBLE
A filmmaker’s life unravels as Sean Wellington, a neurotic music video director who has just broken up with his girlfriend; attempts to strike a balance between the demands of directing his first feature film and the pressures of romance.
After an unhappy experience directing a music video for Kurupt , Sean accepts a job as director of a feature film ; a vehicle for the "Mauler Brawler" (Sam Scarfo). While casting a slew of celebrity cameos for the film, he attempts to reunite with his girlfriend. However he soon becomes paranoid about her past relationship with "Mauler Brawler".
Abel Ferrara supplies the Greek chorus, "the legendary film director with all the answers", to comment on the intrigue. We follow Sean through his self-conscious attempts at navigating through love and career ala "Annie Hall" and "Curb Your enthusiasm" , bumbling at every turn. Welcome to Sean Wellington’s world, where the more minor the disagreement, the fiercer the fight.
