N A T T Y’ S B E A T S“Where Music is Madeâ€Everett Cooper, born November 8, 1976 in Jamaica, came to Canada at the young age of ten where he grew up in Toronto. With a strong passion for music at such a young age Everett, also known as Natty, developed a great desire to make music and learned to play the piano. Having spent much of his time alone as a child Natty became an avid piano player where he gained an increasing passion to produce music. Natty also gained much of his inspiration from his father, Everett Cooper, also known as King Culture. Business man and Reggae producer King Culture won many Canadian Reggae awards in the ‘90’s, including Top Reggae Producer and The Peter Tosh Memorial Award. In 2001, Natty produced music for a Toronto local record label called Up North Records, where he released the popular single, “How We Roll†performed by Tef & Don. This single received high rotation on stations like Flow 93.5FM and community radio stations CHRY and CUIT. Natty later moved on from Up North Records to pursue his music production career as a sole entrepreneur. As a freelance music producer, Natty produced songs for various artists like Duvel, “I Ain’tâ€, released in 2002 that was a heavy rotator on Toronto radio stations. Young Toronto entertainer Jordan Francis, remembered for his role as Simba in the Disney musical “Lion King†is another artist Natty produced for during this time with his single “No Matterâ€, that received much love from Toronto. Jordan, who is now known as JMAN is leading a progressive career in the entertainment industry. Natty’s resume also includes production for international artists as well. Luciano, Elephant Man, Majasan and Cappadona from Wu Tang Clan are among the talented Natty has created beats for. Natty eventually created a production team he called So What Productions where he worked on many projects with much of Toronto’s aspiring R&B and rap artists.Late 2003, Natty joined a new and upcoming record label, AFlash. Having been in the music business for a few years with some hot singles under his belt, Natty brought to the company fresh ideas and enormous talent and with his production team an extended force of power, just what this company needed in Toronto’s competitive market of independent record labels. AFlash became Sound Street Records Inc., new talented artists were added to the roster, and Tef & Don who were already known by Toronto for their single “How We Roll†and their compilation CD “Voice of the Streetz Vol.1†were also added. Natty also brought people he had met over the years in the music industry to join the executive team in this growing independent record label. A conversion of the physical office space was also done to include a fully functioning production studio and sound proof mic booth as well as the previous office space. Celebrated for bringing recognition to new artists with his beats, Natty’s contribution added the strength this Toronto record label needed to thrive.Although not always publicized, Natty is responsible for making beats that helped break much of Toronto’s artists and so he played a significant role in the music production and produced most of the music released by Sound Street Records Inc., including “Girls Girls†by Tef & Don whose music video debuted on BET. “Girls Girls†was the first music video released by a Canadian independent record label to debut on BET. Tef & Don’s second single “Wil’ Out†also received much love, especially from Canada’s community radio stations. The instrumental has even been heard in the background while radio commentators spoke. “Back In The Daysâ€, also well loved by Toronto’s community and across Canada, depicts life back in the day relating to Toronto’s mature audience. “Baby Girl†by R&B artist Jay Evans, formally known as N-Jay, released early 2004 received high rotation by commercial and community radio stations across Canada and Internationally. “Baby Girl†and the “Girls Girls†BET debut brought the first real buzz to Sound Street Records Inc. Although the popularity of these singles brought much recognition to the performing artists, Natty remained instrumental in this success and continued to produce music for artists like GQ Numberone, JoKezy, Ice Burg, Reality and female R&B vocalist Tash, well known for her hot 2004 releases “Ooh Baby†and “Rock With Meâ€, that continuously rotated on Flow 93.5FM.In 2005 Natty and members of his So What Productions team separated from Sound Street Records Inc. to pursue projects with Toronto’s new aspiring artists. Then in 2006 Natty formed his independent production company named Nattysbeats where he produced beats for artists like DonSkilachi, with his popular single “Born 2 H.U.S.T.L.E.†and “How We Rollâ€, featuring Kehsan.Nattysbeats was launched in late 2006 and became official when the single “I Do†by new male R&B artist S Davis was produced and released. This 2007 release currently receives much attention from listeners around the world. Nattysbeats produces for a number of talented artists but S Davis stands out by far with his soulful vocals and charisma that proves to be most compatible and compliments the ingenious instrumental ensemble of a Nattysbeats production.URL: www.nattysbeats.com
