Well, I was invented March 20, 1846 By a man named Adolphe Sax...he is kind of like my dad...anyway, I was invented because Adolphe wanted a brassy sounding woodwind in the orchestra and so he invented me, also I am the only instrument that was invented for the orchestra. The only real time I am used in an orchestra anymore is to solo for some songs or to double a horn or oboe part...But now i am mainly used in big bands, concert bands, marching bands, jazz bands and I am in rock bands, YAY!
