About Me
About me? Well, I am a performer and a musician, therefore my life is just one immense cliché. Equally at home in glamour or squalor, I’m iconoclastic, unsettling and sincere. I am terminally single, so I welcome marriage proposals from the lunatic fringe. I keep on meeting bland, unimaginative men who watch Will and Grace and purchase Cher albums. Needless to say, I hide in the attic and never return their phone calls. Am I bad person? At this point in my life, I am in transition…neither here nor there. There is a great deal happening, and, at this time, I can’t really tell where the dust will eventually settle. The big thing in my life is music. Always has been, always will be. I’m an electronic musician, and have done pretty well for myself on a commercial level. There have been a few bands, the ill-fated Pandemonium Cabaret (first incarnation), which was my brief but fervent foray into electro-industrial music. We were Mark Sbybey’s favorite opening act on the Download 1997 tour, so I suppose we were doing something right. Anyway, our personalities got the better of us and we fell apart. Then came Pandemonium Cabaret (second incarnation), which consisted of four singers, upright bass and percussion. We did quite well from 1998 to 1999, and played many live gigs that were warmly received. But, as alway, personalities clashed and we quickly fell to ruin. Since that time, I have been silent. Working. Thinking. Lurking. So, after years and years of making music for other folks (car companies, large amusement parks, film, television, and theatre and dance groups), I have decided to, at long last, embark on my own musical project. It’s called Lucid, and it consists of me and an incredible singer named Linda Medeiros. I am doing all the writing and arranging, and it is bliss. However, given that I am a child of the 80s and much in love with early synth acts such as John Foxx, OMD (before they released that dreadful single If You Leave) and Soft Cell, it is only fitting that this band have a raw, primitive, analog feel. Consequently, I am buying gear. All sorts of goodies to clutter up my house. Music will soon be posted here, just as soon as I have enough material to warrant a trip to the studio. In the meantime, I will post some of my past work for your listening pleasure or pain. You decide. In the meantime, peace to all and a whole lotta love. R.Oh, and did I mention that I wanna be a pirate? Yar!
