I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is Rex. I’m 22 years young and a full time student in my last semester (hopefully) at Mesa in my pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in geography. I work as many hours as I can get between a surf shop, a surfboard factory, under the table construction, and under the table landscaping rock deliveries. The good news is it keeps me busy and it doesn’t drive me crazy. The bad news is its not consistent enough and it doesn’t make me much money. When I graduate college I want to teach English in a few other, diverse countries and end up teaching math or anything here in the states at the middle or high school level. If you asked me what I like, I’d tell you good people. I’m the “surf-everyday” type, and I love the beach and being outside in the sun. I love meeting and being around genuinely nice, giving, loyal people and experiencing and appreciating the beautiful aspects of life with them. I have a passion for learning with my hands, and creating and appreciating all types of art, ranging from graffiti art to cinematography, from restoring old fashioned cars to shaping surfboards, from dancing to writing music and playing instruments. I was brought up Catholic, but, in a way, have strayed away from it. I’m a little unsure about who’s God, whether it be Jesus or Allah or anybody, but I do know that there is a God, and that every time I’ve been close to death in my life, I pray to papa Dios and the picture in my mind is Jesus on the cross. I haven’t dedicated too much time trying to find out which religion is right, but rather focused on being a good, helpful, open-minded, welcoming person with good intentions. And so far, that’s worked for me. I believe God, whoever or whatever it is, doesn’t mind so much what you call him, or even that you recognize him, but more about the type of person you are. I don’t believe people should be good in hopes of a reward, such as heaven or good fortune, but rather to simply be good because it feels good and its right. I find it quite ironic that people with 99% of the same beliefs kill each other because they have different names for God and different stories about how to teach what is right. In a perfect world, people would respect each other, look out for each other, be humble, and always be reasonable and open minded and do what is right. We would pay attention to the environment and how we are affecting it; instead fighting it and trying to conquer it, work with it and for it and find where we fit into its perfect system. We would limit ourselves, recognize what we need and don’t need, and not run ramped and chop down anything in our way. In a perfect world, all people would think like me, but then again, that’s what anyone would say. My goals are to travel all my life, surf all my life, be happy all my life, learn all my life, and teach all my life. I’d like to think I’d left this world at least a little better of a place by the time I’m done.

Trying to put it into words

Somethings in life you never see coming, you cant explain, or make absolutly no sense at all. Even when all of these things happen at one time, you still must realize that everything does happen ...
