Jim Janik → Producer/ Mixer:
A true and vibrant "behind-the-scenes" talent, Jim Janik has captured, created and transformed sound for many amazing artists. A Gemini in every sense, and a true music fan, Janik has leant an ear making records from all genrés, from Urban Soul, Rap, Hip Hop, Rock and Classical and most recently, Latin. Janik is currently co-writing and co-producing with Descemer Bueno (Yerba Buena, Seite Rayo) on tracks for Enrique Iglesias and new artist Magilee. He has also been putting the finishing touches on new artist Alkebulan’s début album, for Freedom Williams (C&C Music Factory) production company, as well producing and playing on a remix for Ojos de Brujo's "Sultanas de Merkaillo". Janik just finished mixing as Spain’s largest selling Indy artist, Ojos De Brujo’s sophmore album "TecharÃ" and Descemer Bueno’s Major label début "Siete Rayo" for Universal Latino.
Originally from Chicago, Janik entered music school as a guitarist and singer, but soon caught the recording bug. While in school, and after graduation, Janik spent a few short years mixing live shows ranging from Bo Diddley and Buddy Guy, to Jefferson Starship, Booker T , and Leon Russell, as well as The Wailers and Blue Öyster Cult, among many, many others. Soon, his true calling lead him into the studio.
In 1993, a move to NYC lead him to the famed Unique Recording studios, learning from some of the best; Keith Diamond (Billy Ocean, James Ingram, Mick Jaggar); JG Thirlwell (Feotus), Klark Kent, Bob Power, Trent Reznor (NIN). Climbing the production ladder, in 1995, Janik became independent and recorded and/or mixed various projects from artists such as The Lost Boyz, Maxi Priest, The Cold Crush Bros, Jane Jensen, NIN, Tricky et al… In Late 1998, Janik was invited by über-mixer Tony Maserati to help complete a "production super-team" joining Puff Daddy in the Bahamas for the making of the "Forever" album. Janik worked steadily thru 2002 working in P. Diddy’s camp, recording, programming, and mixing for every Bad Boy artist and project during that period including: Puffy, MA$E, Lil Kim, 112, Dream, Faith Evans, Kelly Price, Ice Cube, Chuck D, R. Kelly, David Bowie, J-Lo, Jay-Z, Nas, etc…
In 2000, Janik secured his first production room at the famed AVATAR studios in NYC (formerly The Power Station) where he worked with and became friends with many of the Power Station legdends; Neil Dorfsman (Sting, Dire Straights), Jason Corsaro (Chic, Duran Duran) Jeff Bova (Celine Dion) among others. Currently he is mixing as well as producing and developing new artists from his production room in NYCs East Village:
