About Me
Christopher David: Texas convert and a native of Pennsylvania, has been playing guitar since the tender age of 8. With early influences such as the Beatles, the Tom Petty, The Doors, David Bowie, the importance of vocal harmonies, strong lyrical content, and bigger than life songs have stayed with Christopher and found its way into his music. After playing in various bands in his teens and early 20s, Chris gave into the urge to start writing his own material. He started writing and performing his own music while attending Penn State University. A brief stint in Nashville, TN exposed Chris to a new side of the music industry. Getting to work with and meet some heavyweight writers in Nashville gave him a new appreciation for songwriting. Collaborating with writer Thomas Farrell proved to be a very productive move for Chris, as well. He and Tom found a common ground with experiences and circumstances in life, that made the music even easier to write. After playing many writers nights and making a few solid connections in Tennessee, Chris found himself at yet another crossroad. An opportunity in Houston, TX proved to be an offer he couldn't refuse. So, with walking papers in hand, Chris waved farewell to Nashville.
Playing with regional band Dantes Prose, and the band SQ51, Chris has hit a new level of playing , writing, and performing.
"There are a lot of different elements in all my songs. Not just the different musical genres that I try to incorporate, but my spiritual side, as well. A lot of the things I don't say aloud or issues that I feel the need to mull over a while longer have a tendency to make its way into my songs. Not really a new concept, but definitely how it works for me."
Honest themes and good songs is how Christopher hopes people are going to describe his upcoming record. "I'm really excited about actually getting the whole things wrapped up and released. Its been a long time coming to get this collection of songs recorded and put together. I'd get discouraged and put the record on hold, but recently, I've gotten a lot of support from friends and family, a few in particular, to finish the thing and just let it rip. I guess the time was just right." An early 2007 release date is on schedule, with only mixing and mastering left to complete.
What lies ahead for Christopher is unknown, but the skies look clear and with a new record and a huge desire to perform his material, this can only lead to good things. Take a listen!
