Oz Rock at its finest!MICK BLOOD is best known as the iconic frontman for the LIME SPIDERS. After dominating local independent charts in the mid eighties ( no. 1 Aust independent song of year with 3 successive releases including the monstrous SLAVE GIRL), MICK further developed his awesome reputation as a singer/songwriter with a road train full of passion over the SPIDERS tenure with VIRGIN RECORDS. According to the well respected JUICE mag. in Nov. 04 "Mick Blood has a knack verging on genius for penning three minute garage gems " Micks songs have made it to several major film releases (including YOUNG EINSTEIN soundtrack) & been covered by bands from YOU AM I to the GOO GOO DOLLS & beyond. Suffice to say, Blood has had a vital impact on the history of antipodean rock & roll & fully deserves his ever expanding status as a true rock legend.Mick is now proud to introduce his new band, BLOODGROOP. This potent possie of his favourite Melbourne players initially came together for a project of spontaneity whereby the songs were written, recorded & mixed in three consecutive days at Birdland Studios.The stunning result is the two songs presented here....the hauntingly intense REVOLUTION BLUES & the sinister swagger of NEVER COMING BACK This experiment was repeated several months later at Urban Sounds Studios & the magic was recreated, resulting in another 3 gems, soon to be added to this site. Mick has finally decided that two guitars just aint enough & the explosion of sounds on this recording are courtesy of JULIAN POULSON (Moler, Stiff Kittens), ANDREW KENTLER (Glide,GammaRays) & OLLIE LAURIE (Exotics,Hoss).Complimenting this onslaught of tension is the peerless slide gtr of SPENCER P. JONES on the outro of REVOLUTION BLUES, indeed a spooky recipe of electric bliss!! Completing this superb line-up is the awesome rythmn section of PETE LEEMING on bass & the hired gun of KAOS on the skins....an engine room to die for! BLOODGROOP have recently secured a deal through OFF THE HIP Record & is scheduled for release early December. A CD launch is being planned for NEW YEARS EVE in Melb...venue tbc.
