About Me

I can drive a stick shift (CAR, pervs). I like used books with cool covers. My secret trashy book weakness is Jackie Collins. I ran a half-marathon May 2007 and can't stop staring at the certificate of completion in amazement. I overanalyze everything and cry way too easily. I've lived in Boston, NYC, Cincinnati, and now Northern Virginia after 15 years away. See, you CAN go home again!

My Interests

floaty pens, ducks, kitschy things, kids books, Trixie Belden, Sanrio, obsessing over petty stuff, reading and writing, museums, running, photography, the glamorous world of A-D list celebrities.

I'd like to meet:

your mom

Did You Get Lost in Amsterdam?

Why yes, I did, thank you for asking.  Out of the five days I went running, three of those days ended with me checking a map to find the professor's street and return back to it.  The f...

on exercise, part the third (biking)

Did you know that biking requires a whole new set of clothes?  Okay, you probably did, because if you've ever seen the Tour de France, or a picture of Lance Armstrong, you see he's wearing the su...

Bad Movies Wasting My Time

Once again, gentle readers, I must save you from your own worst instincts.  Last night Bill's Evil Twin and I saw a movie so bad I am still reeling from the horror of it.  It's not just your...

state of affairs: three week check-up

So it has been a little less than three weeks since I have moved here, and doing a self-analysis of what's been going on and how I've been feeling, I am shocked to realize how, already, little things ...

on exercise, part the second (music to run to)

Five miles, baby!  Yes, it's true.  The key to a good run is to take a bunch of days off, apparently.  The last time I did the circuit thing was on Wednesday, when I decided I was going...

won't you be my neighbour? (friend?)

Here's another brilliant revelation you wondered why you never thought of before: damn, but it's hard to meet people when you have no job or anything structured to get you out of the house.Shocking, I...

reflections on change (10 days into the new life)

In the "incredibly obvious " department, moving is about changes.  Don't worry, I'll wait for you to get a pen and paper to write that revolutionary statement down.  Okay, I know that's incr...

really deep thoughts on really deep things

So yesterday Bill's Evil Twin and I went downtown to the folklife festival.  On the way, I was looking through the weekend section of the post to see if there were any interesting museum exhibits...
