Sahara Bellydancers is a belly dance troupe based in Southern Oregon. Sahara Bellydancers incorporates the traditional styles from Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey and Morocco and creates beautiful remixes with other dances styles: Bollywood, Hula and Flamenco in group and solo dances. Started in June 2006, Sahara Bellydancers is a group of amateur dancers coming from different schools: Ballet, Jazz, Salsa, ... Some of our dancers had no dance experience when they started and belly dancing was their first real dance experience. Most of the dancers started as students. Sahara Bellydancers's idea of troupe dance is different from the pure tribal American soloist that is very common in the area. We trive to make this old form of dancing more appealing to different age groups and dance backgrounds by breaking the Americal stereotype of bellydancers. We hope to bring this art close to people in Southern Oregon through group and solo performances in different events around the area. We will be posting our coming up performances on this web site. If you would like to join our troupe, please contact us at [email protected].
