Greg Arnold has just released his first full studio solo album: Lost Marie. It is a collection of story songs. A cast of the lost, the lonesome, ex-cons and cons to be are wrapped in a blanket of warm melodic acoustica featuring a banjo, a saw, a piano and brass.When not being Greg Arnold the solo artist, he is the singer-songwriter behind folk rock institution Things of Stone and Wood. He was APRA songwriter of the Year in 1993.He has toured Australia and the world since 1992. TOSAW's first two albums The Yearning and Junk Theatre were top ten hits that included some of Greg's most well known songs: the summery Happy Birthday Helen, Rock this Boat, Share this Wine and Wildflowers (one of the most radio played songs of 94). His song Silent no longer was published as a poem in Rolling Stone.In 1999 he released the album Super with Tricycle that enjoyed extensive airplay on the ABC.This year he recorded Close My Eyes for exclusively for the Red Cross with Rob Hirst and Paul Greene. The song has received extensive play in the Asia Pacific region.He is currently touring with his trio The Lost Marias which features: John Bedggood (Bernard Fanning) on fiddle, mando and piano and Ian Kitney (Tim Rogers) on the drums.
