I'm an artist. Currently, I have been working pretty
exclusively with digital imagery and video.
My two main interests are abandoned and derelict buildings, and music.
For the former, I spend a lot of time out on the road looking for and
photographing old buildings .
I have done a number of CD covers as well as several digital
paintings of my friends in the band Harris, Smith and Workman; and photographs
of guitars. I would like to expand my work into designing labels and covers for
bands and musicians.
Video has taken up a lot of my time and I currently have over 700 short videos,
mostly of my friends in the band but have started improving my skills with
videos of Fred Eaglesmith and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. They aren't
professional by any means but I am hoping to eventually buy a video camera that
will allow me to do more professional-looking (and sounding) band videos.
Of my other videos, my favourites are my "Night Music" and "Rain Music" (soon to
be filled out with "Snow Music") videos. I got the idea for these videos from a
series which used to play late at night on Canadian television called, if I
remember correctly, "Night Rides" which consisted of video from inside a car
driving through the streets of Toronto, with a background of music, mostly jazz.
These soothing videos were the inspiration for my own videos which were merely
intended to provide me with vicarious drives to music when weather or time
didn't permit me to do the real thing. To my surprise, they have proven pretty
popular with friends and subscribers on
YouTube .
