About Me

A reflection of the bleak reality that slams into your face everyday, Midnight Yardsale is a cathartic exercise; raucous, venomous and incisive. Simultaneously it's a beautiful plunge into oblivion, appreciating the few fleeting moments of beauty and happiness that life can offer, busking a few chords as the world falls apart around us....
Midnight Yardsale is a lo-fi noise project from Richmond, Va. It was a collaboration between Matthew Paris (Blistered Twilight) and John Raymond (D-7). The band was based solely on home-made recordings in basements and garages and often created their own instruments from barrels and buckets found in industrial centers. A Fender Stratocaster AKA 'the alien guitar' was modified with frets removed to create harmonic and dissonant effects. Midnight Yardsale was a heavily experimental project, often using completely random tunings, stream of consciousness lyrics, and 'improvisational' writings.
