About Me

I'm a transplanted South Dakotan who has been living in the North Texas area since 1993. I moved down here to go to college, and I stuck around long enough to collect the Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree, a husband, two cats, and a Doctorate.I'm an anthropologist by training and a professor by vocation. I'm currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. My research concerns religious diversity, gender diversity, and identity construction.I'm a feminist Witch, a yogini, a tarot reader, and a dancer. I'm an activist for feminist, GLBT, and genderqueer causes. I've helped start two campus Pagan student organizations, been in a performance of The Vagina Monologues, and participate in feral cat rescue/care on my campus.I carry Dragonfly on my back, and have since 2002. The picture you see on my homepage is my first Dragonfly, situated in the small of my back. Like Dragonfly, I see myself as one who moves between worlds -- the realm of humans and the realm of spirit, the realm of the living and the realm of the dead, a mediator, one who lives in both the straight and the queer world. I move between. I resisted that for a long time. When I was ready to accept it, I put Dragonfly on my body as a constant reminder. She was my first ink, but she won't be my last.I'm a reader, a writer, a knitter, a music lover, a friend, a sister, a wife, and a lover.I am.I am all that, and so much more than that....if you're intrigued, keep an eye on this space or check out my LiveJournal at http://dakotawitch.livejournal.com
