My Auntie Kay performing with Robert Cazimero of the Cazimero Brothers. This woman is pure Hawai'i.
My ohana: Auntie Puanani singing, Auntie Kay dancing in the middle (purple muu'muu), Auntie Nani danicing in the red, cuz Julianne dancing in the green. Beautiful, aren't they? "Palisa" is one of my Grandpa's favorite songs about a man who travels the world and sings about all his favorite places.
To enjoy my company, you should follow most of my 12 step program, in no particular order, to succeed:
Step 1: FOOD - love it!! Taste buds rock. We should all be very thankful that we have them. And a sense of smell that allows us to taste.
Step 2: DRINKS! Alcohol in moderation is okay with me. (Only my close special friends get "Lushelle" to come out and play every now and then.) As long as one is being responsible about it, then *cheers* to you!
Step 3: DANCING! You must enjoy getting loose every now and then (yes, some of my friends are a work in progress... Serena!!) And if you can keep up with me on the dance floor, then you are a friend for life.
Step 4: HUMOR! Damnit, you must know how to take a joke, because I make them often and I top them with extra cheese. Living life requires laughing often.
Step 5: MUSIC! Step 3 requires a love for music, so this step isn't REALLY neccessary, but I thought I'd be redundant because music is the heartbeat of my life. It's what I thrive on, what gets me through my days, beating my heart, carrying my soul, coursing through my veins as natural as the ocean's constant ebb & flow. Without this form of expression, I fear I would be empty...
Step 6: FAITH! Yes, have faith in SOMETHING, anything, as long as you accept there is something bigger than us. Just don't preach onto someone who believes in something different. Accept they have faith. Period. No knockin' down someone else's beliefs.
Step 7: FAMILY and FRIENDS! Keep relationships healthy, no matter how angry one can get. Yes, it may sound contradictory because I am going through a divorce, but we are still friends and that's what counts. (Some people are just better friends!) Never burn bridges and you'll get through life just fine. Accept when it is time to move on and start a new chapter as well...
Step 8: FIND BEAUTY in life and be grateful for everything you have! In everything you do, find the beauty in it. It doesn't just have to be the wonder in the sunrise, the way the clouds roll across the sky, the amazing power the ocean holds... it can be the sound of the coffee brewing (thankful that I can feed my caffine addiction), the mess of dishes in the sink (thankful that we have food to eat), the person that cut you off on the freeway (thankful that we have working breaks on our fabulous car!)...
Step 9: DREAMS! Have them, believe in them, follow them and manifest them. Stay strong and true to yourself on your journey.
Step 10: LEARN! Whether you pick up a book, magazine, pull up a website, spend the time talking with an elder, etc... expand your knowledge! This includes learning the little lessons from life. Know that everything happens for a reason and learn from EVERYTHING, bitterness and regret are not allowed!
Step 11: SILLINESS! Find the time to be a little goofy. Or A LOT goofy. Just be silly every now and then!
Step 12: RESPECT! I put this last so that everyone knows that it's the most important. Respect yourself and others as you would want to be respected. Karma, baby, it all comes back to you.
So, let's see some randomness about me...
I help other people organize their houses and prepare them for sale (and if you want to re-design a room in your house, I do that, too!)
It bugs me when people can't use the following words: "there", "they're", and "their" in the grammatically correct way. (Even "your" and "you're".) Also, when I read a misspelled word, it makes me twitch. That's right, slap a label on me that reads "F7" and I won't be offended.
I love a good dirty martini. (I like 'em durrtay!) I love rum & coke, Toasted Almond (yeah, Kahlua, Amaretto and milk or cream), a good red wine (especially Domaine Carneros Famous Gate Pinot Noir). No, I'm not a lush... just a casual drinker who knows what I like to drink!
I am not a smoker and have not been a smoker since the end of 2006! (And oh, so proud, lemme tell you!)
I love to visualize. Burning desires manifest your life and the things in it! THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS. Believe it.
I love playing sudoku and solitare on my iPod when I'm waiting somewhere.
I love my green tea iced or hot.
I love making root beer floats with Breyers french vanilla ice cream and Hansen's root beer. I also love putting hot cocoa mix ontop of my ice cream when I just eat it out of a bowl. (Gives it texture!)
Good photography inspires me to take beautiful and interesting pictures.
Good interior layouts and furniture and accessories get me high. (Man do I love walking through show-rooms!)
I got back into swimming and lost 4 pounds already! Six pounds left to get to my *perfect* weight.
I'll talk all day about the philosophy of things and my out-look on life (and you might think I'm crazy), but I'd probably do really well teaching philosophy.
I meditate and absolutely love yoga.
I believe in something larger than us and that there are no coincidences. We have the freedom of choice, but our paths have already been layed out for us. Once we find the right one, everything else starts falling into place with it. (It's true, I swear!)
