Commanders and Chiefs

About Me

How do you mix Billy Talent's punk with Led Zeppelinish rock? That's a challenge well taken up by this Montreal based quartet called "Commanders and Chiefs". Their first album "Checkpoint Charlie" (2007) offers a dynamo rock entangling the melodical accessibility of pop and the percussive rythms of punk rock. Live, Commanders and Chiefs' solid musical background is put forward in a highly rock performance led by Martin Arriola's (Lead Vocal/Rythm Guitar) subversively humourous presentations of the songs and Phil Lemire's (Lead Guitar) overenergetic playing. Denis Fontaine's thunderous drums match perfectly Max Leclerc's merciless (but classy) overdriven bass, both constitutive of an unshakable foundation for the harmonized orgy of guitars. You can see them perform in numerous bars and colleges of Montreal (cf. calendar) as well as hear them on the university radio circuit (CKUT 90.3 FM, CISM 89.3 FM, etc.) and on The Indie Revolution and Underworldmixradio's 24 hour stream. The soundtrack of the movie "A l'Ouest de Pluton" (2008) features two songs of Commanders and Chiefs: "New Sensations" and "Please Fulfill My Desire". The band is also presently working on a full length album at "Planet Studios" (Malajube, Jonas, Amon Tobin) in order to sollicitate record companies.
