About Me

Hello! I'm Paul and I have been a drummer for 20 years now playing in various bands in and around London for many years and briefly in Vancouver, Canada in 2002 for a live project. I was also the original drummer for LedZepToo, possible the best Led Zeppelin tribute band around, I was with them for about 2 years, check out their myspace page. My current band is the38s, a great covers band who try to avoid the obvious and delivers something different and fun. If it's a standard then we don't do it! I'm also working on my own material and also working with a few other musicians on original projects.Teaching -In 2006 I started teaching by request and this is something I now really enjoy. I get great satisfaction watching people achieve what seemed impossible to them when they started. Drumming is something that I am really passionate about, it's both challenging and rewarding and once you join a band it brings a whole new social side to your life, one that only musicians have; and don't let anyone tell you that you're not a musician!I teach in my studio usually with the student on an acoustic kit with me running through the exorcises on Roland TD20 electronic kit. I follow the Drumsense syllabus as it provides structure for lessons and covers everything you need to become a confident and successful drummer. Both the acoustic and electronic drums can be recorded if required, mp3's are downloadable a few hours later from a given address. The Studio -The studio, a compact fully air conditioned set-up based around a Mac running logic Pro & a Roland TD20. It even has a beer fridge!Drum Tracks -If your tracks pre programed drums sound a bit robotic, stale or lifeless then give me a shout and I will delivery you a multi track/mic break down of a recorded drum part. Obviously, if you don't like it then there is no charge but I will only supply a low bit rate track until payment is made. Please contact me if you are interested or would like a demo.Singer/Song writers -Everything you will need to make your scratch ideas come to life wether it be fat drums, strings or even if you just want to record your acoustic properly! All sessions can be taken away as aiff or wav files on DVD.Bands -The room is big enough for a 4 piece band but all instruments would be DI'd, the drummer would also have to use the Roland kit triggering BFD2, but I must say your achieving a great drum sound from the off! If you would rather mic up your guitar rig please let me know as there is usually a way round things, I do use a ULTIMATE Attenuator which give great results (google or youtube ULTIMATE Attenuator for more info). The Kit -Audio in is via a MOTU 828Mk2 + Motu 8 pre via ADAT so 10 mic pre's plus 8 line in TRS. Guitars/Bass can either be mic'd up or DI'd and run through LINE6's impressive Pod Farm Platinum plug-in. I also use a Universal Audio 610 valve pre-amp with guitars/bass to warm up the signal. Various plugins from TC Electronic, MD3 Stereo Mastering, CL 1B Compressor along with SSL Duende for SSL channel strip / Buss compressor. Full size, fully weighted M-Audio keyboard along with a smaller 49 key keyboard, Kontakt 3 (Massive sample library). Drums are covered by BFD2 triggered via a Roland TD20, the main sample packs I chose to use are from Platinum samples, Joe Barresi and Andy Johns, I also have all the other packs from Fxpansion so nearly any drum sound you can think of is covered! Rode Classic 2 valve mic, NT55 matched pair, NT1A Condenser some standard 57, 58 Shure's. SE Reflection filter, Event TR8 XL Monitors, a ULTIMATE Attenuator and a nice BIG screen. Oh, and no studio is complete without a BIG knob...

Sounds Like: Here are a few videos for ya! Make sure to select HQ from the bottom right hand corner of the video window, sound sucks on normal! There will be some more recent ones going up soon.PaulHere is something I threw together quickly yesterday. It's my 1st go at recording the kit in my little studio.the38s are my current local covers band, we have been chugging along now for a few years, great mates, great fun, great gigs! Here are a few clips from the year we headlined Gazastock, in 2007! The hair was experimental....under the influence on medication, that's my excuse. Still, it's not as bad as Sam's strides in the Beat It clip, that's going to stay with him forever! I will try and get some 2008 clips up as well soon.the38s @ Gazastock 2007 - Beat Itthe38s @ Gazastock 2007 - 1/2 of MonsterAJ were an all original 5 piece band with AJ 'Alison James' being the writer and arranger, I got involved for the live side of the project. These vid's are the best bits from the video my Bro took, cheers for that! It was a fun gig with the balconies from the pubs upstairs all packed looking down over the square watching us on a nice summers evening. Good crowed, good gig!AJ - EquilibriumAJ - FineAJ - Jaded By AliensAJ - SkinlessWhitney Midget, the good old days. We had aright laugh, most of which seemed to be at our own expense! Just a good fun covers band. Steve (Guitar) is now out in BC, Canada so his mates out there should have a good laugh watching this! Pubs in Deal lead to working with Nickleback, who'd have thought.Whitney Midget - FireWhitney Midget - Mr.BrownstoneWhitney Midget - Making plans for Nigel
