Eric Aldon Terry, Sr., was born September 2, 1972 to Jerry & Sandra Terry of Chattanooga, TN. He is the youngest of three boys. Elder brothers are Kenneth Hicks of Chattanooga, TN and Randall Hicks of Houston, TX. The love of music begin to resonate in Eric's life at an early age. He officailly began the pursuit of his music career at the age of 15 when he joined with his brother Randy to fill a vacant postion in his R&B singing group. After performing at some small venues in Atlanta, GA, the group split. In 1991, Eric returned to his native Chattanooga and also to his gospel roots. He began performing musical workshops while singing with various local groups and choirs.In 1994, Eric moved to Nashville, TN where he accepted God's call into the ministry. On October 29, 1995, Eric delivered his first sermon, "Building on the Rock", at the Lake Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Senior Pastor H. Bruce Maxwell. Eric's time in Nashville was short lived. God had work for him back home in Chattanooga. In November of 1995, Eric moved back home and began serving as Associate Minister under his father, Pastor Jerry L. Terry at the Saint James Baptist Church.After his return, God gave him the vision for a music ministry like he had never imagined. In June of 1996, Minister Eric Terry & Purpose was founded with 16 charter members. Purpose began to travel and minister all through Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and abroad. Over the next year, Purpose would appear on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Explosion as well as Video Gospel.In 1999, the group was disbanded and Eric began to seek God for the wisdom to begin establishing himself as a solo gospel artist. In 2003, while his personal life was in turmoil, Eric began a search for God that would lead him to The World Restoration Center Church of Chattanooga. Under the leadership of Pastor E. Jonathan Thomas, Jr., the healing & restoration process began immediately. He now serves on the ministerial staff as well as head of the sound ministry and one of the Praise & Worship leaders. In 2005, Eric began recording his first solo project. The recording is still currently underway to be completed soon. Eric has become known as one of the premiere male vocalist and Praise & worship Leaders in the Southeast.
