I started my musical training in 1992 playing the flute and then later, the saxophone. I have played in many county groups including the West of England School Symphonic Windband and flute choir Flutissimo.
I continued my studies at Bath Spa University College where I specialised in performance and graduated with an Honours degree. I have studied under Katey Thomas, Liz May and Richard Dobson. I took an active role in University ensembles culminating as a concerto soloist performing the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto at the Guildhall in Bath.
In addition to my University studies I have attended numerous masterclasses and courses, including those led by: Susan Milan, Wissam Boustany, Claire Southworth, Ian Clarke, Neil McLaren and Nancy Ruffer. I now continue her studies with Nicholas Vallis-Davies.I play at a variety of occasions from recitals, formal concerts and wedding receptions. I perform regularly with the flute quintet No Strings Attached, playing alto and bass flutes, with Rhayn Jooste in a flute-guitar duo, a flute-harp duo with Julia Hammersley, flute and piccolo for the Brunel Sinfonia, I am principal flautist for the West Bristol Concert Windband with whom I have performed Cecile Chaminades Concertino several times and i am regular guest soloist with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary Male Voice Choir and play for anything else that happens to turn up along the way!I currently teach flute, saxophone and clarinet to lots of children and I have started my training to become a Suzuki flute teacher, and have started a junior flute group called Flutelets.
