These are the interests I actually get to spend time on anymore. Some old interests and talents lie untouched, but these are the things you can catch me doing:
PHOTOGRAPHY
I don't deserve all the credit I get for my photography. I am not really that deeply involved in it. What people see is my artistic ability coming into play on the beautiful things I love. I love to record the beauty of children and flowers.
That leads me to my main interest nowadays: FLORAL GARDEN DESIGN. I love harmony and color.
I love to work with anything using photography and GRAPHICS.
I have lately exercised my WRITING ability, though I've just realized that I only write for a purpose. My writing ability comes out in my desire to help someone see what I "see," or know what I know. I am not into pure entertainment, nor poetry. (Okay, so lately I've been doing pure entertainment, too, but poetry is beyond me.)
However, I've always had a SONG in my heart, since I was a kid. And I seem to have been given a voice that people like, so that works out well! I dabble with guitar and keyboard, but let's face it. I rot, not rock. My voice will always be my best instrument. I have a thing, tho', for guys who play guitar or keyboards for me!
George and Laura Bush. Georgie seems like real people. I don't care if he seems candyhapped; I think he has a good heart.
Also, Oprah Winfrey.
I think I'd be too awed to meet Condoleezza Rice, but smart and deep women like her, and Oprah, who know what they're all about, inspire me.
Teri Hatcher and Halle Berry.
And Abraham Lincoln. Hey, it could happen!
Oh, you mean what type of people through this site! I am not looking for a mate or a date in this venue, nor to while away time with new people, because I shouldn't give that much time away. This is intended to share with family and friends a look at life through MY eyes.
My longtime music love is Stevie Wonder. When I was 16, I had a yellow shirt with a photo of him on it, his hair braided. I wish I'd never let go of that shirt. (I am not so fat at my age that I couldn't wear it!)
Others much appreciated: George Benson, Billy Preston, BTO, CCR, The EAGLES and DOOBIE BROS. -- Yea!! --, Three Dog Night (love Shambhala), Santana, Cat Stevens, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Simon & Garfunkel, Harry Nilsson, Bread, Jim Croce (RIP), the Grass Roots, and thanks to my big brothers Martin and Warren for my appreciation of Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, the Who, and the Guess Who. Yes, I am SO stuck in the 70's. Yanni's music will always have special significance to me, and music from Christian artists Bob Bennett, Randy Stonehill, Michael Card, and Keith Green (RIP), fabulous talents, are meaningful above all others. THANKS TO MY OLDER DAUGHTERS, I am a fan of Christian group dc Talk.
For its pure artistry - Romeo and Juliet with Leo DiCaprio. The opening sequence to the first Spiderman movie had me awestruck. But other than that, a movie buff I am not. Family funny fodder will always spring from the mumbling misfit in "Office Space." My son's giggling renditions of it will always bring a smile.
Extreme Home Makeover -- Ty Pennington, hugs and kisses. He's a designer, he's loving, and it's all about home decor. I'm in heaven! Anything where anyone has something tremendous done to help them.... I love it, and hand me a tissue, please.
LOST --- LOVE THAT SHOW.
The kids and I used to love watching "The Pretender" with Michael Weiss.
Desperate Housewives - ain't hard to get sucked in, is it?
I dislike reading books anymore, but....
Judeo-Christian scripture, a.k.a. the Bible. My favorite part: the gospel of John. The writer seems so humble and he clearly states his purpose in writing. Chapters 20, v. 30-31, and ch.21, v. 25. Plus, in his first 6 chapters, you can find how salvation works. In the 3rd chapter, you can see the origin of the phrase "born again." Not many people know that it came straight from Jesus. He told an old, religious man, "You must be born again." Are you gonna argue with Him?
My next "Bible favorite" is the Book of Acts.
Also, the true death and life story, and a modern sighting of heaven, "90 Minutes in Heaven." Did you know that the apostle Paul wrote that he was allowed to see "the third heaven," and said he saw things that "man is not permitted to tell." ?? The man in the modern true story said he saw things that we do not have adequate language to describe.
Last, but definitely not least, a little book I first read in July 2005, and at the moment am reading again. "The Prayer of Jabez," by Bruce Wilkinson. You've heard of "all hell broke loose?" Well, how about "all HEAVEN breaking loose!" In total delight, I concurred last year that everything the author says is true, and now looking back over my year of "the prayer of Jabez," I have to say "it is wildly true." God wants to show us miracles in life.
Besides the One who privileged me to be His friend, and has never left me, my hero is anyone who attains great power, reaches to help in great ways, and remains uncorrupted by the power.
"Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." --- Words of Christ at the Last Supper.
"...when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." --- Romans, ch. 5.
