Sisterhood Above ALL Else

About Me

SNW Sigma Nu Omega Sorority, Inc. Cursor by www.Soup-Faerie.Com History
On Thursday December 9th 2004, the sisterhood of Sigma Nu Omega was created. After collectively exploring other organizations, the founders of "Sigma" decided there was no sisterhood like the one that was already established between the six of them. These women, known today as The Black Pearls, decided to reach out to other women of their kind and share the sisterhood that they created along with a chance to plant a seed in the community. Built on a foundation of family values, Sigma Nu Omega will always stand strong. Well overdue, the quest to find sisterhood has finally come to an end.
Mission Statement
Sigma Nu Omega's mission is to serve as an advocate for all women promoting health awareness, equality, and multiculturalism.
Our Purpose
To stand as a positive Greek Letter Organization openly accepting women of all race, creed, and orientation while uplifting and supporting issues surrounded by today's ever-changing woman.
Our Motto Explained
"Sisterhood Above ALL Else"
As defined by a true Sigma Woman: The term sisterhood means so much more than having sisterly qualities and being associated with like-women in a common cause. Sisterhood is a term in which sisterly qualities are instilled and active within a Sigma Sister. Having respect for one another, being there for one another, and knowing that when you are happy or hurt your sisters feel your pain is what contributes to the aspect of sisterhood. It is more than maternal, its beyond X and Y chromosomes, its the power of Love...Sisterly Love. A bond that is so strong even in anger you know that your sister is still there for you. The Sisterhood of Sigma Nu Omega is truly what makes us shine, and in the end we as Sigma Sisters know that our Motto means exactly what it says.
Founders
The founders of Sigma Nu Omega has taken much pride in building our organization from the ground up. The foundation and structure of our wonderful organization has been designed, laid, and is ready to stand beside other great organizations in the Greek World. As we approach the end of our first year, we look onward to a bigger and brighter future...not only for Sigma Women, but for the fortunate people and organizations that we as Sigma Women will generously shine upon. Sigma Nu Omega Sorority, Incorporated is here to stay...from our history until our never ending future. The seed has been planted, stay tuned and watch us grow.

My Interests

The National Philanthropy of Sigma Nu Omega is of an all inclusive and affirming nature that discourages discrimination of any kind. Starting in 2007, Sigma Nu Omega Sorority, Inc. plans to focus on making monetary donations, fundraised by our organization, to other organizations that contributes to growth and uplifting the community.

On a local level, Sigma Nu Omega donates time through hours of community service. The organizations vary from state to state.

Sigma Nu Omega Sorority, Inc. is a Multicultural Social Service Greek Letter Organization that openly accepts all women no matter what your background is. As long and you are determined in everything you do Sigma welcomes you!

What type of community service does Sigma Nu Omega Sorority, Inc. provide?

Sigma Nu Omega Sorority, Inc. provides a variety of services revolving around our Philanthropy.

Do Sigma's step?

Yes. As does most Sororities and Fraternities we are currently in the process of forming a step team.

Do I have to be in college to become a member?

Currently you do not have to be in college to become a member of Sigma.

What type of commitment is required of each member?

The biggest commitment required of each member is time, and really, that commitment is not that big. We require that each sister commits 4 hours a month for community service. If at all possible this service has to be done with a group effort. Although we have other events such as socials and informationals, community service along with fundraiser activities are the most important. Please realize that our organization is committed to service...that's just what we do. If you feel that you can't make that commitment then it may not be a good idea to become a Sigma Sister.

The other big commitment is your membership dues.

Membership dues are paid once per year and assists with helping the organization run. To have a sorority, there are many things that need to be paid for like printing fees, money to purchase fundraising items, national and local event venues, programs, catering and our website!
