Melek

Melek is a Singer/Songwriter and Musician, writing her first song at the age of 10. She has been making music ever since she can remember, starting with the Piano at aged 7. At aged 10 she was granted a musical scholarship to learn the voila, where she continued to play until moving on to high school. Watching her mother play the drums in various rock bands, Melek grew up with music in the house. Moving towns after the separtation of her parents, Melek attended Thornlie Senior High School where she was granted another musical scholarship. As the voila was not one the instruments included, she decided to take up playing the Alto Saxophone.At the age of 14, Melek became more interested in commercial music and decided to focus her attentions on her voice and on teaching herself the Acoustic Guitar. She became immediately known around her town for her musical compostions on the guitar and piano, and also for her singing abilities. Winning the local talent contest in 2001, and going on to win the local Battle of the singers awards in both 2002 and 2003, she built a name as an aspiring musician.Graduating High school in 2003 and awarded' The Best student in Music' award and 'The Best Student in the Department of Arts' awards, Melek then went on to record her first demo in the summer of 2004/2005. Deciding to pursue her dreams of a musical career, she saved enough money to move to Europe in 2005, settling down in Lausanne, Switzerland where she would work with SoWatt Music Productions and record a duet with Italian singer Fabrizio Ferrara.Currently living in Paris, France, Melek is working hard on her musical compositions and working with various artists and musicians.
