Total Music first opened its doors in 1990 at Hermit Road, Canning Town. It then moved up in the world to Bethnal Green. Total Music was the first shop to have a separate floor dedicated to Hardcore/Jungle.
Many of the other shops 'poo-pooed' Hardcore/Jungle, only to then open separate sections themselves six months later.
Soon after, Total Music moved into production, launching the Total Music Records label and also the Soapbar Records label.
The rest, as they say, is history
