Not buying it? Fine, fine...
Rediscovering the fun in reading was something that just recently overtook me, mainly because of a very, very depressing winter. For some reason... my schoolwork was just that- work. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't want to. Reading wasn't fun anymore.
Things have changed since then. I'm reading british Novels, and I'm falling in love with literature all over again.
Other things currently ruling my life- My family, My friends, and My boyfriend/fiancee/person. Currently gathering folks for a Toga Party next year. Would be nice to have a place for it...
Because everyone else seems to have pictures inside of their interests boxes, I figure that I ought to do something similar.
(Anime does tecnically count as an interest. Sort of. But not really. It doesn't all fit in the movie section, and doesn't quite fit in the television section, and god knows there's no place for misc. ideas, thoughts, and interests except here.)
I am now addicted to this song (even though I haven't seen the anime- if you know where I can get the mp3, let me know!):
"And now our box is done!"
I'd like to meet:
People who know me- well, yeah. That just about sums it up.
People that don't know me- Hello! I'm not adverse to meeting new people- just so long as they have absolutely no romantic designs on me. I'd hate to deprive a sweet young woman (or man in some cases) of meeting someone fun, exciting, and looking for a relationship.
Because that's not what I'm looking for right now.
But just for fun, you might take this quiz, to see if you match me well. ^_^

Wow... that's a pretty good sampling of my musical tastes, too. Just needs a bit more Weird Al, Frank Sinatra, Beatles, Motown, and Enya. And maybe Lorena Mc Kennit. Maybe.
It's my brother's fault for making me listen to Meatloaf when he went through 90's rock education. Yay for filling the gap.
Movies:
Movies? MOVIES?!Skip movies. Let's do musicals instead- most of which able to be found remade as a movie or videorecording of the original production.Musicals are so much more fun...
I'm deeply in love with Enjolras and Jean Valjean... two of the most tragically heroic male characters in Les Miserables. I've also had a great affinity for Eponine. I love her resilliance, which may well be a trait of her cockroach-like family. But then again, she's treated- not cruelly- but merely slighted by Marius.
And then there's Javert... I could go on for hours about Javert...
But I digress.
I've been listening to the music from Les Mis since my mom procured the cassette tape when I was a little girl. It was a staple for years, and now I have the two-disc CD set. I also have the Les Mis in concert video... somewhere...
Second only to my affections for Les Mis, is Phantom of the Opera. The movie was good- the musical incredible.
T and Laura are both to blame for this, although I suppose there are a few others that had their hand in it, such as my choir professor. And then, watching it at the Fox... well, The Fox is a religious experience. (I can say this, only because I haven't been to any of the broadway theatres in, say, New York.)
T burned a copy of her "Hi-lights of Phantom of the Opera" CD for Jess, who in turned burned one for me. I used to fall asleep to "Music of the Night" and "Masquerade". I highly appreciated the Michael Crawford CD that I recieved, but seeing it with Ted Keegan blew me away.
Other Musicals that I enjoy:
The Mysteries of Edwin Drood
Cats
Sunday in the Park with George (Bernadette Peters rocks my socks!)
Into the Woods
Victor/Victoria
Jekyll and Hyde
Chicago
FAME*
Fiddler on the Roof*
Hello, Dolly!*
Mame
Once Upon a Mattress*
The Music Man*
* denotes musicals that I've performed in
Television:
Television... ah, the big honking thing downstairs that I never really turn on.
I enjoy cartoons more than a 21-year-old ought to, I suppose. It's something I tend to blame on being denied saturday morning cartoons as a kid. I never got the chance to really grow out of them. Maybe I don't really want to.
IF I must list shows that I enjoyed when I watched TV semi-regularly, then...
~ Stargate SG-1
I mean, I got lost somewhere between the third and fifth seasons, so what the hell. I still do catch it from time to time on Sci Fi. (Now that my family actually has cable)
~ Angel
Not a Buffy fan. I'm really not. But I watched the first seven episodes of the first season and was hooked.
~ Charmed
Again with the fantasy series, eh? Yes, I know it's an awful portrayal of a wiccan community. And still not even close to a true wiccan community.
~ TimeCop
Short lived doesn't begin to describe this series, but it's got an interesting spin to it. Policeman goes back in time to stop other time-hopping criminals.
~ Freakylinks
What is it with me and obscure shows?
~ Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
All right, I'll admit it. I watched it. And furthermore, I enjoyed it. It was... fun... to watch each character form throughout the series. I miss it.
~ The Muppet Show
Is it even on in syndication anymore? This series should really go in my "Movies" box, seeing as I did watch the episodes on videotape. But still... wow. And wow. Jim Henson really was a genious. (And when I figure out how to spell it, I may be, too.)
~ Reboot
"WaRn!nG, !nCoMiNg GaMe.'. WaRnInG, !nCoMiNg GaMe.'."
~ The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, and Snagglepuss
I love them. Love them, I say!
~ Scryed
How do I describe it? I don't know that it can be, but I might try later.
~ Futurama
If there is a future 1,000 years into the future, I'd want it to be like this... even though it won't be.
~ The WB lineup (Some old, some new: Static Shock, Yu-Gi-Oh, Jackie Chan Adventures, Batman/Superman Adventures, Batman Beyond, etc.)
Hey I said I...
No! Wait, Where are you going?
CURRENTLY:
Stargate SG-1 - See above?
Inu Yasha - Not as religiously as I used to
Fullmetal Alchemist - Also, not a religiously as I used to
Battlestar Galactica - (insert number here) survivors in search of a home...
Books:
I cannot begin to count my books- but I can send out a few hi-lights from my collections.
I love Ray Bradbury, and continually find myself getting lost in his works. Also, there's the Redwall series- even as youth fiction with war, villans, and heroes, it never completely talks down to the reader. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, LOTR, and Harry Potter are also some fantasy/sci-fi series that I've come to enjoy. (Don't hurt me!)
Right now I'm taking courses in english with an emphasis in drama- so I've been finding so many plawrights that just... bang. Right there. I love it. And the ones that I don't get- that I need to unpack, they're the ones that I need to explore.
My current reading exploits:
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Robert Louis Stevenson
Also, it is my life's goal to get my hands on a copy of Ray Bradbury's Dark Carnival, first edition. And when I do, I intend to seek out Mr. Bradbury and beg him to sign it.
Heroes:
Ray Bradbury is and will always be one of my heroes.
