About Me

My name is Mark, and I am a senior at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA. I am majoring in Communication Studies with concentrations in public relations/organizational communication and rhetoric. Also, my minor is in political science.
I am the 2007-2008 Opinion Editor of my school newspaper, The Beacon. If you want to check out some of my pieces my link is: http://www.wilkesbeacon.com/user/index.cfm?event=displayAuth orProfile&authorid=2497040
I love working for the Beacon. It's always a great feeling when my peers and others come up to me and say how much they enjoyed one of my articles. That's why I love writing!
I hope to work with children either in the inner city or in rural poverty areas. I believe that the biggest impact one can have on this world is to gain informal relationships as role-models or as mentors for those who need them the most and who better to help, guide, listen, and give advice to more than children who have unfortunate home lives. I love kids, and I am excited to have a family of my own someday.
I will be in the Teach for America program starting in the Fall of 2008, and I will teach Special Education in Eastern North Carolina. I'm very excited to start teaching and look forward to the new experiences, challenges and opportunities that I will get while I'm apart of the Teach for America Program. I leave for training June 7 till July 12 in Atlanta, Georgia. All I can say is that I'm very ecstatic!
After doing Teach for America for 2 years, I plan on going to graduate school to take up guidance counseling. I worked with high school students in the Upward Bound program (from both urban and rural poverty areas) for the past 3 years, and I loved every minute of motivating, encouraging and providing hope and faith to those kids who need it most! Those kids are amazing, and I pray everyday that they continue to be and discover themselves, and to stay on the right path!
I believe you have to love and respect yourself fully before you can fully love and respect anyone else! I also believe that you should have some type of morals and values that you should practice.
One thing I despise is when people say they are open minded but go behind people's back and talk smack about them. I also dislike it when people judge others based on appearances and what others say about them. I don't understand why people judge when we don't like to be judged ourselves. So why be nasty and do it to others?
Anyway, my favorite sport is football, and my favorite NFL team is the Buffalo Bills in which I hold season tickets. Some of the things I enjoy doing are hanging out with my friends and family, going to the movies, going to church, and reading a good book. I also love going to the bar and club, dancing, performing karaoke, and am a huge fan of The Office and Desperate Housewives.
I love the outdoors! I grew up in the country, near Williamsport, PA (home of the Little League World Series). I love to go camping, hiking, traveling, and fishing. I do also enjoy the city. I like to visit and experience the different cultures that cities have to offer. But, most of all, I enjoy life to the fullest, and I look forward to everyday!

You live life to the fullest - encorporating the best of both worlds Do You Have a Type A Personality?
Your Dominant Intelligence is Interpersonal Intelligence
You shine in your ability to realate to and understand others. Good at seeing others' points of view, you get how people think and feel. You have an uncanny ability to sense true feelings, intentions, and motivations. A natural born leader, you are great at teaching and mediating conflict. You would make a good counselor, salesperson, politician, or business person.

I'd like to meet:

What do I find attractive? Well, I would say that someone’s personality, eyes (you can tell a lot about a person by looking into them), smile, sense of humor and values are the most attractive qualities I consider in a guy. I take into consideration one’s physical features, but that’s only second to those above. I like a guy who is 100% honest, no BS. I also like guys who are respectful of themselves and of others. I can’t stand people who like to judge and judges others! I believe it is not our job to judge, so we shouldn’t. I don’t like it when people judge me, so I do my best to not judge others. I also believe in giving everyone a chance, sometimes, even more than once.
Life on this earth is too short to hold grudges, so I believe that you shouldn’t waste your time hating others, regretting what you did, or being cynical. I also find guys who are optimistic very attractive. Also, I am a big romantic. I love it when guys take the time to listen and be sincere. Sentimental items are much more important than materialistic items. I would rather have someone make me a cheesy card or scrapbook than have them buy be some lavish item.
What’s my idea of the most near perfect life committed relationship? I would have to say that being with someone who respects themselves and their partner is the first thing. If you don’t respect yourself fully, how can you respect the one you say you love full-heartedly, and if you don’t love yourself, how can you love others? I believe that in order for a relationship to be successful and near perfect, each person in the relationship has to love, know, and respect themselves first. I also believe that people in a relationship need someone who is similar to them, but also balances some of their weaknesses out.
Moreover, each person needs to love life, believe everything happens for a reason, stay positive, always try to better themselves and be willing to help others! I’m not going to lie, but I set my standards pretty high for guys because I don’t want someone who doesn’t have the same or at least similar believes, values, morals, or goals as I do.
I don’t see any point in wasting time or emotions on someone that you may have doubts about being with or are just with them because you feel lonely. Timing is everything. I also believe you can’t look for love; it just has to happen unexpectedly because if you look for it than, I believe, it’s more lust than love, and may have a higher chance of failing.
Friends are also important to have outside a relationship. It's important to be able to balance your social life with your friends and your time with your partner. If you're always with each other and never have time for yourself or friends, or spend more time with your friends than your partner, you may drive each other bonkers and potentially lose the attraction you once had for each other. I also feel that in order for a relationship to work out, communication is key and you must be willing to open up and express your point of view and where you're coming from in a clear manner. Most relationships fail b/c of a lack of understanding or a break down in communication. This is why when I'm trying to establish, build or am in a relationship, I will do my best to make sure I try to understand where my partner is coming from and express to them how and why I feel the way I do.

You scored as Blue. Your heart is blue. You are a very calm and relaxed person. You are very caring and like helping others. You're grateful for what you have in life, even if it's not perfect. People love you for who you are, don..'t ever change that- it's what makes you the great person that you are.
