I am... a Christian, a husband, a uncle, a friend, a helper, a student...John 10:10 says "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." That is the path that my life was headed down. But then I accepted Jesus Christ on October 30th 1994.I have learned not to assume that every one knows what it means to "receive Jesus" so I will explain. The Bible says that sin demands a punishment, the punishment of death (The soul that sinneth, it shall die- Ezekiel 18:20). You see, all people are born into sin from birth. We have a "sin nature." This is why there is so much death and destruction in the world right now. But there is "good news." Jesus was and is the Son of God, God in the flesh (John 1:1 -In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth) and Jesus came and died in our place for our sins; He took the punishment for our sins on the cross; He died in our place (Isaiah 53:5 - But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.) The death of Jesus was substitutionary. That means that He took "our" place on the cross. We were doomed to death due to our sins but Jesus took our place so that we would not have to die but have life, life eternal. After dying in our place for our sins on the cross and being buried in a tomb for three days, Jesus was raised from the dead; The grave could not hold Him and He is seated at the right hand of the Father (Acts 2:24- Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it). Now, Jesus has the victory over the grave and He gives that victory to us. (John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.) If you will believe in what He did for us, that He is the Son of God, that He died for our sins and that He was raised from the dead, and if you will confess Him as your Lord, you will be saved. (Romans 10:8-11- But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.). You may ask yourself "how can I believe?" The scriptures say that if you will seek Him you will find Him and that if you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you Luke 11:9, James 4:8- James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
