What exactly is a Geek? C'mon you know what a Geek is. They are the socially unaccepted. They normally have a devotion to some hobby that is little-known, unpopular or misunderstood. That is what places them outside of the mainstream. Example subspecies: Computer-Geek, Gamer-Geek, Band-Geek, SciFi-Geek, etc. You were probably a geek at some point in your life.
Are you really all geeks? Well... yes. Indeed we are. It takes one to know one.
Is this your first movie? Geekin' is the first feature film produced by DigiTribe Productions. We have done some smaller video projects in the past, but for most people on our crew this was their first feature project.
What equipment did you use? This movie was shot on Digital Video using the Canon XL2, the market's leading professional DV camera today. Some other equipment used on the set includes: Sennheiser ME 66 Shotgun, Sony ECM -77B Omnidirectional Electret Lavaliers, EZFX Mini Jib, Sachtler fluid head, Panasonic AG-DVX100 24p DV Camcorder, some very hot lights, a wheelchair, and other such junk.
What was your budget? Under $100,000
When did you shoot? We filmed for 14 days over 7 weekends in November, December and January.
Can I be in this movie? Um....we're already done. The movie is out. Please buy one! However, DigiTribe Productions is currently in pre-production for our next feature film project. Keep watch on the Geekin' forums for more information as we announce it.
Will I be able to see Geekin' in theaters? Geekin' is a self-distributed film. We wrote it, we made it, and now we are releasing it. It is truly a homegrown feature film. While we will most likely have a few theatrical event screenings, the bulk of the distribution will be on direct DVD sales. If the film does play on a screen anywhere, however, you can find out about it on the Geekin' forums.
If I have a +2 strength modifier and a Helm of Giants Might can I wield the legendary Maul of Gilspork? Outlook is good.
Will you be attending any festivals? Geekin' premiered at the Southern Fried Flicks Film Festival in Augusta, Georgia in January 2006. We expect Geekin' to see a lot more festival action before it's done.
I have never played Role Playing Games, will I still enjoy this movie? You do not have to be a geek to find this movie funny and enjoyable. Hell, normal people have been laughing at geeks for decades. Seriously, this is a story about friendships and love (somthing everyone can connect with) - the gaming is just setting.
How do you like your hashbrowns? Scattered, Burnt, Covered and Chunked... but thats just me.
How did you edit this movie? Very slowly. No, seriously - With a few high-end desktop systems running Avid Express, Adobe Premiere Professional, and select special effects software. We used both Macs and PCs.
My Gamemaster says I can't have the Prestige class of 'Extreme Hackmaster' because I am a Gnome. But I say if I have the Ring of Ogre Smell, which makes me an Ogre for all intents and purposes, and roll my save - I should be able to. SHouldn't I? Damnit, Wes! Stay the hell outta my FAQ!
