I am here for Friends

About Me

Maybe I just want to be all heart...Well, I watched the Germany:Wales football match and I enjoyed it, but my companion (the cool guy I met on a train) was sitting on the wrong side unfortunately hehehe. I keep hearing how badly the whole thing went but for WALES... it was a major step forward! Great defence, endurance and speed... and all in all, a great experience... a good introduction to international football. Oh and one up for the Wales fans, who definitely drowned out the German fans at a ration of 1:63 *grin* - will have to practice my Mae hen wlad fy nhadau (Land of My Fathers) though as I got the words wrong.:-D For those Americans around here, I am talking Soccer! I have never seen (ahem!) 'Real' Football, though I have been told that it's a game where strength / size is more important than fitness, due to the minimal running and many breaks. Is that a very British view?? ;-)I LIKE RUGBY. It's fast-paced with enough controlled violence to destress you for weeks, even if you are only watching. As long as your team wins, of course! If you lose, well, you can cry. Or just hang your head and go for a beer.Though, controversially enough, I like GERMAN beer. Not so keen on the British stuff. Especially when they refuse to serve it mixed with coke - a combination which is surprisingly tasty. In the UK I drink Cider, or of course Gin and Tonic. However cool James Bond might be, I hate Martini. Shaken or stirred.

My Interests

See 'About Me'

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people with different views, I like to listen as well as talk. I am very good at agreeing to differ... But you have to talk it thro' first!

Music:

Anything except Hip-Hop, though if the company's good I can do that too...Though Thrash/Heavy Metal screaming is a 'preferably not' too.

Movies:

True Romance - the last scene is the best but the whole thing is great. Have to see some more Tarantino, but Dennis Hopper is just the best in this. And Brad Pitt as a pothead... there are others but this is always the first that comes to mind.

Books:

I like novels which go really deep into character, that feeling of being inside someone's head looking out, and also stuff with a bit of historical relevance, though I do read some sci-fi and fantasy too. Favourite authors include Sebastian Faulks (Birdsong and Charlotte Grey), Vikram Seth and whoever wrote 'Wild Swans' - don't remember her name right now but she was good. Pretty angry, but good.

Heroes:

My grandfather, the day I realised who was really 'in charge' of my grandmother (but don't tell her I said that). She's much easier to get along with now, though we still don't agree on everything. Christopher Reeve was pretty cool too. Superman, you know. :-)
