I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships and Friends

About Me

I'm 5ft 9, 10 stone 6 with dark hair and grey/blue eyes. I have a normal office job, I live in Nottingham, i'm single and I have a cat called Eliza. I'm honest and kind, intelligent and loyal, faithful and strong; a confident gentleman with a passion that rarely loses sight of the pragmatic. My sense of humour is observational and witty with some surrealist touches and occasional sarcasm; My style of dress is alternative and I like shirts, tactile fabrics and black.I'm not a typical man, i've often been told that i'm a hard person to figure out but I prefer to think of it as having more layers to my personality than people expect as I'm always truthful and open with people I know. I'm simply a little more reserved in new company. The contents of my blogs and bulletins probably say more about me than I could possibly do so here but if you want to know more, ask me.

My Interests

Music, music, music - I play bass in a band i've been in for about 6 years, we gig about 2/3 times a month. I also do sound engineering, sing a bit and listen to CDs in many genres. I love historical buildings, churches, graveyards and monuments which I visit on holidays and I read history books almost exclusively. As for holidays, the sea shore is a favourite place and although I do prefer a hotel, I like to go camping once a year and I often do this at the Glastonbury music festival. American football - Go Seahawks! I've been a fan for 25 years and I was a pretty good Safety when I was younger (I tried to model my play around Ken Easley and Ronnie Lott). Shopping - buying things to decorate/refurbish my house, generally browsing or even in the supermarket. Gaming with the PS2 - Resident Evil, PES and Madden. PC's for e-mails, Total War games, mixing music, photos etc. Cooking - I used to cook, I got into the habit of quick and easy meals but i'm gradually getting back to making and eating decent food. Photography - Capturing moments of beauty and memory, I have a good eye for them. I'll tinker with the pictures a little but only to adjust for my lack of technical expertise, I don't 'photoshop' pictures.

I'd like to meet:

Old friends and new friends especially creative people with similar interests who I might meet and would like to know better. I'm single so i'd like a girlfriend too; I like people who are consistently good, decent and trustworthy....free thinkers and alternative types especially. I'm looking for a long term relationship but i'm happy to go on dates since I realise that a single brief meeting is usually insufficient to get to know someone and feelings, tho vitally important, should not be solely based on first impressions. Someone cute, intelligent and creative would definitely get my attention.

Music:

I like ALOT of different music... ancient, classical, ambient, folk and every style of rock & alternative music. From that last genre, these are my top favourites.................................................. ......... Tori Amos, Bjork, David Bowie, Captain Beefheart, Nick Cave, the Cure, Nick Drake, Brian Eno, the Fall, Fields of the Nephilim, Grandaddy, Peter Hammill & Van Der graaf Generator, PJ Harvey, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Nine inch nails, Pearl Jam, Portishead, Queen Adreena , Radiohead, Rasputina, REM, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Smashing Pumpkins, the Smiths, Tool, Velvet Underground, Zombina & the Skeletones. I could list hundreds... but I won't.

Movies:

I'll watch pretty much anything if it's a good film - with someone. If it's good then i'll watch, it it's bad i'll snuggle, if it's really bad i'll laugh at it! Left to my own devices i'll usually listen to music.

Television:

Comedies - HIGNFY, Blackadder, Monty Python, Sir Henry at Rawlinson End, QI... that kind of thing. and documentaries, especially historical ones.

Books:

I read mainly history books, the odd biography, music book or timeless classic.

Heroes:

Chasing the light

After a few weird months and odd weekends, i'm back! It took something very odd (as usual) to snap me out of it but i've emerged with honour intact and a deeper understanding of the rollercoaster of e...

Addendum

I went out last night purely with the intention of getting drunk and dancing, two things that I rarely do. I accomplished the latter, had a great time and met some cool people at Wildside and Al&...

Subject to change

I’m feeling quite strange today and I believe that the ’tipping point’, which I mentioned in a previous blog a few months ago, has been reached. And it’s that exactly - fe...

The ghost in the machine

You can tell it's still Winter despite the weather because things have a strange tendancy to break this time of year, regardless of the fact that they're not imbued with the same consciousness and fra...

How many marks would you give that?

Like a panel of ice skating judges, the news was giving it's own scores on the recent earthquake and I think the final concensus has settled on five point four. (I would have written this numerically ...

The Valentine’s blog...

It's on this day of the year when people traditionally express their love for someone by spending money on them. As much as i'd prefer gazing into a loved ones eyes and telling them how much they mean...
